No I have not totally flipped I really am looking for a home bar (or DH is). We saw one in Costco today and it was £700, quite ornate, big stools, dark wood.

I have looked on the net and not found much but wondered if any of you fab internet shoppers would like a challenge!

I told DH Mnetters would have the answer!

here are some lovely ones

Now tell me you're joking, please?!!!

MrsSpoon · 26/02/2006 21:24

FrayedKnot, I'm afraid not! I am for real, those are too expensive, the only cheaper one doesn't have much impact.

BettySpaghetti · 26/02/2006 21:28

Haven't looked at the prices I'm afraid but now I can do links I love any excuse.
here you go

MrsSpoon · 26/02/2006 21:29

Thanks BS, they are all really expensive too, looks like DH might get his own way with the one from Costco, it's starting to look like a good buy.

MrsSpoon · 26/02/2006 21:37

Oh, he's doin' his sums now and planning his trip to Costco.

BTW I haven't taken leave of my senses completely the bar is for a pool room.

Whizzz · 26/02/2006 21:38

DH is worried as he IS Costco Man and hasn't seen said bar

MrsSpoon · 26/02/2006 21:41

LOL Whizzz, we haven't been to Costco in ages, in fact our cards have long expired. I thought it was a hotel reception desk, dark wood, quite ornate with huge chairs. DH got his eye on it and hasn't stopped talking about it since. In many ways it reminds me of sketches from Little Britain. The bar, reminds me of the Scottish guy with the whistle and the stools would make most people look like Dennis Waterman.

Does it have to be an actual bar? Could you not use an island unit for a built-in kitchen, with a small sink in it etc? Then you could have shelves etc behind it. Might work out cheaper.

MrsSpoon · 26/02/2006 21:52

JackieNo, that would be a good idea but alas I think we are too late, he is now calling round people he knows with a van. He doesn't need the sink but I'm sure something could be made up with kitchen units.

Typical man, does he not realise there are far more urgent projects that could do with £700 being slung at them?

OP posts:
starlover · 26/02/2006 21:54

noooooooooooo don't do it! i have heard that it is likely to actually DE-value your property

JackieNo · 26/02/2006 21:59

Oh well - just have to buy some classy bar stools then - I recommend the leopard one two-thirds of the way down the page

MrsSpoon · 27/02/2006 14:27

LOL! I wouldn't put it past him to want some of them. He must have been to that site already as he was expressing a 'need' for a cool chair.

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 27/02/2006 14:31

starlover, it's not in the main house, it's in the cellar which before was basically a cave, after a long building project it is now DH's office (he works from home), separate telly/guitar playing room, separate pool room plus storage.

It's not in my house, honest! BlushWink

PS He has bought the Costco one. I still think it is hillarious.

BettySpaghetti · 27/02/2006 14:36

Home bars just conjure up the image of the one in Jack and Vera's house in Corrie (if its still there -haven't watched it for ages). Have you got a set of flying ducks to go on the wall behind the bar? Smile

Fimbo · 27/02/2006 14:42

I''ll have a G & T please with ice and slice Grin

MrsSpoon · 27/02/2006 14:46

There you go Fimbo, do you want a packet of dry roasted nuts to go with that? Grin

BS we looked on e-Bay and saw one advertised as "Very Del Trotter". Grin

Where are the invites Mrs Spoon?!

miggy · 28/02/2006 15:07

If not desperate keep going with ebay. I bought DH a lovely (well not right word really Grin ) one from ebay last xmas. looks like a chunk of the queen vic with brass foot rail and two swivelly stool things, it was about £150 inc delivery.
ps please dont panic everyone, its NOT in our house!

starlover · 28/02/2006 15:10

oh no there are 2 of you now!

why are men just not satisfied with a few cans in the fridge eh? lol

miggy · 28/02/2006 15:13

starlover-dont try and hide your rabid jealousy Grin

starlover · 28/02/2006 15:16

lol! look i have it on good authority that it will devalue your house.

i saw it on to buy or not to buy, or something like that so i MUST be right! it was on tv n everything! lol

if it was a cocktail bar on the other hand... with a gorgeous bar tender who made me cocktails on demand, and cleared up after himself ... now that would be a different matter

starlover · 28/02/2006 15:16

do you have barrels of beer and proper taps and everything?

miggy · 28/02/2006 16:29

No, it just sits in the corner of Dh's games room (its where his model railway lives too-get the picture!) being a glorified cupboard , but you can sit there and watch the trains or kids playing pool and pretend you are having a night out :)
Actually has great play value, mine dont play shops just "going to the beer pub" DS2 makes cocktails with dregs of whatever non alcoholic drinks he can find, complete with cocktail umbrellas. :)

miggy · 28/02/2006 16:37
