Sensitive skin & derma-brasion(?) kits

was looking at the L'Oreal kit today but it's not recommended for sensitive skin (mine is very). Can anyone with sensitive dry skin recommend either a micro-dermabrasion kit that's suitable or a good anti-wrinkle regime. Would prefer a nightime only thing as I like my daytime regime & have it down to minimum time. Most of the ones I looked at seemed to be around £15 to £30 which is reasonable. I did try the Nivea Q10 for eyes for a few months but it made no difference as far as I could tell & no one complimented me on my wrinkle free peepers
TIA

Hi Jbck,

You are looking for the holy grail of skincare and to be honest it doesn't really exist. I actually test new anti wrinkle products and cosmetics(on consumers not animals). They do make some difference but not loads.

The best thing you can do is:

Do not smoke
Keep your skin out of the sun
Clean your skin thoroughly
Weara high SPF cream all year round
Moisturise your skin.

I find the best products for my skin are from Neal's Yard. The Frankincense nourishing cream is very good. And also they have a very good honey and orange scrub which is really very good.

Most micra dermabrasion kits are not recommended for sensitive skin because they are quite abrasive. But when I tested one, the women with sensitive skin had no problems with it.

Hope this helps

Does your skin react to normal exfoliators?

Hi RM thanks, I bought the Boots Time-Delay stuff as it said it was okay for sensitive skin. I bought about 1/2 a dozen products but probably will get fed up after about a month I usually do.
My main problem is after about 15 years of driving without wearing sunglasses I have terrible squint lines (other people may call them crows feet). Plus because my skin is dry it never looks particularly glowing & healthy, I'm very pale too. I already do most of what you suggest & drink gallons of water but I'm definitely not as youthful looking as was. Not quite Bonnie Langford yet but getting there I fear Grin

My skin is neither dry nor sensitive, (in fact is tough and oily with nasty clogged pores), but the L'Oreal kit made it sore, red and dry Sad -I used it up on my knees.

Neal's Yard Rose Beauty Balm with the Eve Lom-style muslin cloth coaxed it back to normal and is absolutely fabulous - cleans very deep and moisturises brilliantly. It's too rich for every day on my greasy skin so use it once a week and normal cleanser the rest of the time.

Neal's Yard stuff does cost a fortune but makes me feel organic and virtuous as well as being good for my skin!

Oh yes, I was going to mention that stuff as well. It's brilliant. As is the Rose Facial Oil. it is expensive but not as much as Clarins and Aveda which I used to use before so I actually tell myself I am being economical.

Same result as mrs badger - the kit left my not usually sensitive skin red and very very very dry am now trying to sort it out with olay regenerist and rose oil!!

L'Oreal kit is fine on my skin but I seem only to be allergic to natural stuff like aloe vera very strangely. Am noticing an improvement in my skin. I do use it very gently and not for long though. Clarins exfoliator much less kind to my skin.

Jbck · 12/03/2006 15:46

SM I used to use Clarins years ago before I had expensive & time-consuming things like a mortgage & a baby. Some stuff was ok but others started to really irritate my skin so I stopped it all eventually. I'm only finishing week 1 of my new regime & I can't say I notice a great difference but my skin isn't all red & sore so it's obviously not doing any harm either.

I have been using L'Oreal Collagen Filler. I think it does make a bit of a difference but it isn't permanent. Works a bit like Polyfilla I think. Quite expensive but if just for crows feet then should be alright.
