Can anyone help with fitting a Jane Rebel carseat?

Had a Rebel carseat with ds1 and now want to use it again for ds2 (due on friday) but I can't get it to go in our new car properly. We have no local stockists so thought I'd see if anyone on here could help? Basically I need to know whether the handle is supposed to rest on the back of the seat or not? Hope someone can help!

We're using ours for the second time at the moment and it was only with DS2 that I realised that the handle should be in the "auto" position so that it rests on the back bit of the seat ( clear as mud that description!!!)when rear facing. I used to look at the different positions and actually wonder what auto stood for. Wait for someone now to tell me I'm really stupid and that what I'm doing is really dangerous.

Good luck for your new baby!

So when it's resting against the seat, does the seat seem quite upright? It just feels as though it's not firm enough unless it's actually against the seat but then it seems like a funny angle? Does this make any sense?!!

I found exactly this - handle appeared to be supposed to rest against seat but this tipped it up too far because of the curved base and the slope of the seat cushion in my car - but without it the seat was far too wobbly.

In the end I put a little rolled-up cushion under the babies' foot end of the seat to stop it tipping up too far and pulled the seat belt as tight as I could.

TBH we ended up fixing it as well as we could and leaving it in the car most of the time - but it got quite hard to get DS' legs under the strap when he was bigger.

Thought it was really bad though - not at all obvious and the instructions were minimal and unclear,

Good luck! The supplier in the UK is Johnston Prams - they have a website and I did exchange emails with them - perhaps you could call them?

Thanks Catilla, at least I know I'm not missing something obvious then if you have the same problem. It just doesn't feel safe. I have been debating buying a new carseat anyway and this has almost convinced me, will try ringing johnston prams in the morning - thanks very much for your help.
