Sand and water table - worth getting?

I am tempted to get a sand and water table from Blooming Marvellous for my dds for their birthdays in April. (Direct link doesn't work; it is product code 4602.) The dds will be 1 and 3.

But I'm a bit worried that the sand and water would get mixed together and it would all end up in a slushy mess. We haven't had a sandpit before.

Has anyone tried anything like this? Any thoughts?

If you do put sand and water in it then, yes, it will get mixed together but that is part of the learning experience, no?

DD1 had one of these when she was about 2 and absolutely loved it. Got good use out of it for about 4 years.

Just don't put too much water in - it evaporate fairly quickly anyway.

Tbh we often used it just with sand and she had water separately in a little watering can.

Couldn't see the particular one on link but I think anything where they can stand and muck about with messy stuff is an absolute must and brilliant when they have friends round. Cod is right (I assume that is cod? gawd knows why she has that name, go off for half an hour and everyone is called something bizarre) but something that you can move around and even bring inside the house in crap weather is marvellous. Yes they will mix the stuff but that is the idea, and you don't have to put sand and water in at once.

A slushy mess is what you are aiming for, I think.

I think they prefer sandpits they can sit in, but if you have a small garden this is a good compromise - lots of play potential. But be warned boys will throw the sand always no matter how many times you tell them not to. Oh and your lounge will contstantly have sand underfoot.

ds has one and loves mixing sand and water ,it's great.MUch easier to sit and play with them when they're young as you can perch on chair instead of sitting in pit.

we got ours from elc.

DD has had one of these for 2 or 3 years now & it's still going strong. Her friends love it too. We mostly use it with just the sand (damp) in one section but the water section empty - leaves space for building the sand castles that way, and saves the mushy mess. But if u do use lots of water, it soon dries out. Plus to replace the sand only costs about £2 a bag anyway (argos etc.). Make sure you get one that comes with a cover (and use it ) coz otherwise all the local cats will use it as a convenient toilet !!!!
