...is it worth the money???

I thought so with ours. However, it's the only mobile we ever tried. Perhaps if we had also tried some that cost a lot less my answer would be different?

winniewoo · 21/02/2006 21:36

Thanks ponka..just spied some on ebay so perhaps i can get a bargain. Did have a wind up one before and although it did the job at the time, it's now broken and once you start looking to replace..it's easy to get caught up with all the different styles..seems that this one is v good.

...mmm not sure. It's a bit big and full on. Ours was a present and I use it to occupy DS2 while I'm in the shower etc, not at bedtime.

Ponka · 21/02/2006 21:49

Actually, now I think of it, one thing that did slightly annoy me about it was that there were some bits that slid along the plastic bars as each arm went up and down and made a bit of a scraping sound. Not ridiculously loud but it did get to me at times because it wasn't the nicest of noises to go with the music and you couldn't take them off. I liked not having to wind it up though.

Blondeinlondon · 21/02/2006 21:51

V good
Can be used without the mobile bit later when they are older ie just the music

winniewoo · 21/02/2006 21:52

oh..oh just bid on ebay and came back here to some uneasy reports..time will tell..thanks for advice!

We didn't get it until ds was 4months and as soon as he started sitting up at 5 months we took the mobile bit off.

BUT......... The music bit was used all the time and has been to many parts of the world and I wish I had bought it from birth.

Worth every bit & more in my opinion.

winniewoo · 21/02/2006 21:53

that's a relief!! not so bad if I win the bid!

Hope you get it for a good price - I recommend it to everyone - but we are all different

Ponka · 21/02/2006 21:57

Only a little niggle I had winniewoo. I'd still buy it again and we used the music unit long after the mobile bit, too.

Dd really liked hers, my sister bought it from her as at the time she was working a pedartric ward and they had one for the babies. One baby would cry evertime it stpped and I think the nurses were fed up hearing it. We got annoyed with the scratchy noise and tied hairbands on to the arms to stop them moving. It does go on for a long time but you get one with a remote control which sounds like a good idea.

yes, defo
dd loved hers, once it stopped(battery flat) i replaced it with mamas and papas zeddy something one i actually bought before having her, and she wasnt impressed. as long as tiny love was back on again she was so excited and kicking away untill she was tired
it did surprise me

divamummy · 22/02/2006 00:59

btw mine is up in the loft for the number2 i think its worth money, hope number2 will love it, too

jabberwocky · 22/02/2006 03:00

Ds loved his! I have saved it in case we have number two.

geekgrrl · 22/02/2006 07:06

it's super (apart from the scrapy bits ponka mentioned), really kept the kids entertained. The bit used to attach it to the cot snapped off ours though after about 6 months, which I was a bit annoyed about.
The music is lovely.

Don't get the Fisher Price star one - it'll wake the dead! Not exactly soothing as it pops your eardrums with its electronically awful tunes...

Hattie2 · 22/02/2006 14:57

Agree with Ponka about plastic bits being annoying but at least it plays a selection of tunes. DD had the music box bit attached to the cot all the time she was in there - even asked where we were going to attach it when she moved to a big bed!

yorkshirepuddling · 22/02/2006 15:04

I think its fantastic - Its the only thing that calms my dd down and she will lay listening to it for upto 45 minutes at a time. (putting it back on three times) Calmed her down through her colic stages as well and when we struggled to get her to sleep this almost always got her off when the Bach music plays.

My partner wasn't happy at the amount I paid but now agrees that it is easily the best thing we ever bought. My dd cries when it finishes as well, and its quite funny watching her head go round in circles as she stares intently at it. She loves it, but get the remote controlled on, we hang it on the door and we can switch it back on if needed, without disturbing her.
