Prius owners, tell me what you think?

I am considering trading in my current Toyota for a Prius and am wondering what others experiences are. I have two young children who are both quite tall, DH and I tall too.

If you drive one, what do you think of it? (good and bad)

Thinking of going for the new seven seater one when it comes out!

Gave mine back in January as the lease was up.

Very happy with the car itself as it was 100% reliable, not too expensive to service and of course not too heavy on fuel use.

BUT it was boring. Maybe i'm a bit of a petrol head (having owned an Audi TT pre children) but it didn't get me excited. It just did the job in an average sort of way.

My DCs were 6 and 9 when it went and they had complained about the lack of space in the back (especially when we drove to Spain!). I don't know if the 7 seater is better.

Any one else?

We love ours. DH is tall (6'3") and he fits in fine, and the rest of us do too. I like saving money, so I love that it does such good mpg, and yet performance is perfectly decent. Can't think of anything bad.

I have had one as a company car for past three years - dull, but does a good job. Low on fuel which is best feature. Reasonable luggage space - we have taken it to South of France but there is only 3 of us, so we can split the back seat without any hassle. I have seen roof racks on some if that is an issue.
Plenty of space inside, but quite plasticky.

Not planning to get the same again at renewal

We've had one for the past 5 years and I have to say we've loved it. My dh is over 6ft and there's plenty of room for him.

I bought it new and in order to make it feel a bit more luxury (I'd had a Volvo c79 cabriolet before) I had leather upholstery fitted and it doesn't feel plastic-y at all.

We're looking for a new car however, as now we have ds, our dog needs to go in the boot which is fine when she's the only thing in the boot but when she's sharing it with luggage and her bed, it's a bit poky for such a long legged pooch!

We test drove prius + last weekend and have ordered one after much research/consideration. It was lovely inside and not too MPV looking on outside either, high spec even on 'cheaper' model bit slow in pulling when first move off but otherwise looks good.

Thanks for all input xxx

We've had one for the past 7 year and have just traded up for a (barely used) 2011 model. I love, love, love it. And I loved the old one.

The interior of the 2011 is much better than the old one. Driving-wise they are similar but the 2011 is slightly smoother and quieter when accelerating. The new 2012 one is a step up again in terms of interior spec but we couldn't afford the price tag - would have got one otherwise.

If you are after a racing car, this isn't it, but I find it handles perfectly normally on the motorway, including when overtaking. I do mainly town driving and found I get great fuel economy with this (last time filled my tank was 3 1/2 weeks ago and I still have half a tank!) - plus get to feel smug about low emissions. But the main reason I love it is that is very comfortable and easy to drive. I think it's a bit like the Apple/Mac of cars - it just all works.
