Mum to be looking for tips on best/most useful present to buy friend who has just given birth

Hi,

I'm currently pregnant with my first child. My cousins wife has just given birth to their first baby and I want to buy something useful as a present.

We don't see them often as they live at the other end of the country to us so I want to make whatever we buy count.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

I got a big basket full of stuff like nappies wipes chocolate [for me] teddy muslins etc. it was fab!

For something easier, a swaddle wrap was used daily think it was called a GroSwaddle from john lewis. Or a really nice blanket which weve used daily on her buggy.

Nice blankets are always good, John Lewis have some lovely ones at the moment. Muslins definitely a great and useful present. Take-away vouchers?

Send her a supermarket order of decent ready meals. The best present we got when DD was born last year was a box of M&S food: two veggie meals, two meaty meals, two toddler meals, six puddings, a packet of biscuits and a box of tea bags. If they live a way away, you could do something similar with Ocado.

Here's a lovely idea for a low cost new baby present:

My MIL sent me this gorgeous box of babygros and muslins, all folded up to look like an amazing bunch of flowers. I was dead impressed! Clothes in particular were very welcome. Less useful things included a swaddle blanket (DS hated being swaddled! You just can't predict...) and soft toys and rattles.
