Baby wet suits for keeping lil one warm in the swimming pool

My DS is 11 weeks today and loves going to the swimming pool in the next town to me as it is lovely and warm. However I cannot drive and want to take him to the local one which is a lot cooler.
My question is has anyone used a baby wetsuit to keep lil one warm and do they work?

Do they make them that tiny???

PandaSpaniel · 24/05/2012 09:58

Apparently so. Two Bare Feet do them xxs 0-6 months.

I had a neoprene one for my dd1 which fit her from about 3mths onwards. I bought it from a surf shop in Cornwall, try googling for rip curl kids wetsuits.

I personally think they are a bit overkill. I saw a little baby in one the other day and it really seemed to impede his enjoyment as he couldn't move as freely and enjoy the water.

Its not exactly sea swimming temperature wise is it? lol

Trouble is the local pool is bloody freezing! When I go to the one in the next town its lovely and warm and DS practically falls asleep. Local pool is that cold that even I wish I had a nice warm wet suit on lol

I use one for my ds as the local pool is only about 23 degrees. It keeps him really warm, I just make sure I take it off as soon as he is out as it cools fast too. It does restrict the movement a bit but it's not like he is really swimming at this age so I don't think that's a worry. I think its a splashabout brand one, but there are lots of options.

i had a Konfidence for kids baby warmer for my DD, it did not impede her swimming as she was to young to actually swim when she was in it. Totally worth it. She was pink whilst all the other babies were blue.

Thanks think I will give it a go

I have them for my twins, got them from jojomamon bebe with man discount code www.jojomamanbebe.co.uk/sp+baby-wetsuits-in-sun-and-swimwear+B2091link. We started swim lessons at 12 weeks and I had to get 6-12 months for DTS and he is not a big boy so maybe size up?

Sorry previous link did not work

MainlyMaynie · 24/05/2012 11:18

I have a splashabout wrap for DS and it really seems to work.

Blatherskite · 24/05/2012 11:20

I used the Jojo ones too using the MN discount code. My DC were always skinny and they'd get blue lips in the cold pool.

Oh I have just ordered the classic baby wet suit from Two Bare Feet. Hoping it will be good at keeping him warm. I will let you know how I get on x

Sometimes I do wonder how my children survived........

PandaSpaniel · 24/05/2012 14:27

With blue lips and shivering no doubt seeker :0

I wouldn't bother for most pools but like I said the local pool is exceptionally cold

Good move, two bare feet are less than 1/2 the price of jojo mamon bebe! Will order from here next time, thanks!

PandaSpaniel · 27/05/2012 10:55

Well it most definitely works. Stayed in pool for almost an hour and he was toasty warm. I am very impressed with it.
