Bike store in SW London / Middlesex / Surrey

I want to get my almost 3 year old DD a 12" bike for her birthday. Can anyone recommend a good bike store. Would like to keep the price below £60. A unisex bike would be great as DS could use it in a couple of years. But, I'm willing to settle for pink frilly as well. I hate girly frilly things, but she would probably be quite happy with a purple/princess theme.

Anyway, can anyone recommend a store with a good selection? Kinston would be ideal, but don't mind travelling a bit either.

There are quite a lot in that area.

There's one in Kingston called Evan's cycles . I've only been there for myself so might be worth calling to see if they have a good children's bike range. There's also one called Thameside cycles in Kingston (near the market place).

Big Halfords normally have a good range of children's bikes - there is one in Twickenham - it's on twickenham road (more isleworth really) but check out their website because there may be one closer to you. Toys R Us (just over the other side of the M4 Junction 3 in Hayes off the A312) also have a big range but don't have any helpful assistants and you probably have to put it together yourself.

There are other bike shops but I'm not sure of their ranges. There's one in Twickenham - if you are driving from the south it is just on the left before you get to the bridge that goes over the railway line (called Moore Bros I think). They always seem to have loads of kids bikes in the windows!

Incidentally, I went to a soft play place near your neck of the woods in Shepperton the other day. It's called Play Time and it's on Govett Avenue in Shepperton, literally opposite the train station so if your nanny is looking for things to do with your kids, it's v convenient and I thought it was quite good (big bouncy castle, little under 2s bit and a big soft play frame for older kids. Also has dressing up and a book corner and crayons/paper for colouring. And a half decent cafe!).

ps soft play place is not open on Sundays if you were thinking of checking it out yourself!

Action Bikes have several branches and are good. There is one in Sheen I know but not sure where others are

Oh, thanks for softplay tip. Have sent it off to nanny. Or I might even check it out on Saturday. DD lives for bouncy castles.

Thanks, CD. Found them online. Sheen actually isn't too bad as I work in Brentford. So if they are open late I could swing by. They don't show the bikes online. Have you been there? Is the selection good for kid's bikes? Does your DD have a bike? She's about 3 1/2 if I remember correctly?

I have, it is a fairly small shop, they have quite a few kids bikes. I dont' really have much to compare it with though! When dd is better i could go and have a look for you

uwila · 17/02/2006 10:37

When she's better? Is she sick?

Thanks for the offer. Very kind of you. But you don't need to do that. I spotted one of these stores in Chiswickk yesterday. So I think I'll go by there, as it's closer to my work.
