Im in the middle of a seperation with my partner and DD and I are playing on moving out early next month. What do I need to live on my own furniture, kitchen stuff wise?
I can't take much from where I am now so will probably be doing a massive ikea shop!

Any tips would be helpful.

Thanks,

Jules

where are you? I have a few bits you could have, table and chairs, drawers etc..

as little as possible I would say depending where you are moving to

take it as a chance for a fresh start and just stick to the basics until you are settled

stuff accumulates quickly enough

good luck!

The supermarkets do a basic range of cookware, glasses, mugs etc, at least Asda and Morrisons do, called First Home or something.

All the best for your new life.

I'd agree that apart from the absolute essentials, hold back a bit before buying furniture to make sure you get the right stuff for your new place to make the most of the space you're in.

As long as you've got beds, something to sit on, a table, washing machine, cooker, pots n pans etc to start off with!

Good luck btw

ASDA do a set of 18 glasses (smart price brand) for £2.47 and first home dinner service for just under £5.00.

knives/forks/spoons etc
beds and bedding and pillows
cooking utensils (masher/spatula/whisk/ladel etc)
pans
kettle
fridge/freezer
something to sit on ie sofa/futon
something to eat off (dining table and chairs)
mugs

I would say those are essentials for now until you get in there. Are you buying or renting? Have you asked what the oweners might leave or that you could buy cheaply or asked the landlord wjat is supplied if anything?

Thanks.. Will have a think and a flick through the ikea catalogue although any suggestions would be truly helpful.
