hi need to upgrade from my very loved c1. want a 1.6 minimum engine, good boot space and comfortable for driving locally and on the motorway long distance. room to fit me, husband, baby and pushchair. have had a little look at nissan note, cmax, peugeot 207sw, vauxhall astra, c3 picasso. any advice on these cars or any other suggestions? thanks

Ford focus? Good sized boot, easy to drive, reliable. There's a reason they're popular!

I would go for the Astra, or meriva if you want a bit more space.

Skoda Davis Estate. It does exactly what you describe perfectly, fits a 3 yo as well as a baby and my 1.6 Tdi is very fuel efficient.

Golf or golf plus? Have had sever vw and they are good, solid cars and nice to drive.

That should be Skoda Fabia estate.

Another vote for the Focus, but get a 1.6 rather than a 1.4. I fit 3 teenagers in the back and all their sports kit in the boot on a daily basis.

I have a Kia ceed, I love it. Good size, can fit shopping, buggy and dds scooters in the boot, 7 year warranty, good fuel consumption and drives really nicely. We also have a focus, and the Kia is much nicer to drive, cheaper to run - £35 tax as opposed to £190 on the focus.

Renault scenic. I think it's a fab car for a family and if you get a good spec, really nice to drive and lots of gadgets and extras.

I would go for the ford, or something far eastern - a Kia, Hyundai, Honda etc. avoid vauxhall or anything French

Another vote for the Fabia Estate - lots of space and cheap to run. Mine's a diesel and I regularly get about 60-65mpg (includes some motorway driving on my daily commute).

The top spec Fabia 3 has loads of stuff included, and I think at the moment there are some great deals on new new too.

We also have a C1 - and love it! I call it our tardis car as there's so much more space inside than looks possible!

I love my golf. It's nearly 9 years old, really reliable, feels safe, always passes its mot. Plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 kids in seats. Boot not great but unless you are going away with loads of stuff it's fine. I can get a weeks shopping in without taking my buggy out.
