Does anyone have a BMW X5 with 3 child seats (been offered one)....

Could any X5 owners give us some advice? We've been offered my Aunts old X5 from her death estate as we are looking for a bigger car. I know there are loads of threads on which cars take 3 child seats along the back (group 0,1,2)and it sounds like an X5 isn't ideal (as not much mention of this). Has anyone ever managed it? We don't know much about X5's so any advice would be SUPER! (Not sure how on earth I'd park the thing as they look huge!).

Thank you
xx

I'm afraid that I know nothing about BMW X5. However, I know that as with most cars, fitting 3 car seats into the back is likely to leave you with no skin on your knuckles as you wrestle with seat belt buckles. If you are able to physically fit 3 car seats in the back then you should look at purchasing a "seat belt extension" www.amazon.co.uk/Universal-Safety-Seatbelt-Extension-Extender/dp/B005OPE7JQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1336307486&sr=8-1.
BTW - How much petrol/diesel do those things take? You could be ruined financially just filling it up! Good luck

Using the seat belt extension will properly mean your seat then don't fit in safely due to buckle crunch. I know it says it works with car seats put I won't work with a highback booster as the buckle will then be on your child which would cause injury in an accident

you'll struggle to get three car seats across the back. Ive done it but by heck was it a tough job and I would certainly not be wanting to do it regularly. It's nearly impossible to get to the seat belt lock of the second seat and nearly impossible to get to the third and I wasn't that happy that the seats were really safe as they were so close they were pushing each other out a tad. (I did it to take three boys to a party, not a regular journey).

If you had three slim fitting seats which used harnesses so might be okay but if you're using the seat belt to strap the child into the car, which is what i was doing, it was really really hard.

have a look at bubblebum inflatable car seat for the oldest (if they can be in a booster with no back) as these are much narrower, and 'squidge' a bit between other car seats!
