anyone else having problems getting onto amazon?

no only river island which just tells me i need javascript and update my browser (I do actually have javascript and an upodated browser but it won't let me in anyway)

have you tried checking your browser settings make sure you have refresh page each visit checked off and delte temporary pages

I've looked in internet options and couldn't find these settings. Is there somewhere else I should look?

You could try this and restart at the end or alternatively install firefox and see if that works

The reasons given will be date/time, cookies not enabled, or a corrupt cookie.
DATE/TIME MUST BE CORRECT

First of all, please check the date/time settings on your PC. Here?s how:

  1. Click on ?Start? ? ?Settings? ? ?Control Panel?, then double-click on the ?Date/Time? icon. NOTE: If you are using Windows XP, please click on ?Start? ? ?Control Panel? ? ?Date,Time, Language, and Regional Options?.

  2. Make sure the Date and Time are correct and the Time Zone is correct, (e.g. GMT ? Greenwich Mean Time for such as Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon and London)

  3. If they are not correct, then please amend and try to sign in to the website again. If the date is correct, then please follow the further instructions below:

ENABLE COOKIES, DELETE COOKIES

  1. Please follow these instructions to resolve your problem (to find your browser type and version, open your browser and click on ?Help > About?):

For Internet Explorer users. Open Internet Explorer and click on ?Tools? from the menu bar, then ?Internet Options?. Ensure the ?General? tab is selected.

For AOL 9 users: From the AOL main menu, select Settings; This will open the AOL Settings window Click the Essentials Tab Click the Internet [Web] Options link. Please go to Step 2.

For older versions of AOL. Open your AOL. If you are using AOL 8, click on the ?Settings? menu on the AOL toolbar, then ?Preferences?. If using an older version , please click on the ?My AOL? menu or ?Customise? menu on the AOL toolbar, then ?Preferences? A new window will appear. Please click on ?Internet Properties? (www link or icon, if using an older version).

  1. Ensure the ?General? tab selected. Click on the ?Delete Files? button and tick the box for ?Delete all offline content?. Click ?Ok?. Now click on the ?Settings? button, which is to the right of the ?Delete Files? button. Under the heading ?Check for newer versions of stored pages?, ensure that ?Every visit to the page? is selected and press ?Ok? to confirm the changes.

3.We will now delete the cookies. At certain times a cookie may get corrupted and cause problems

For Internet Explorer 6, AOL 7, AOL 8 AOL 9 users: Ensure the ?General? tab selected. Click on the ?Delete cookies? button. A message will appear saying ?Delete cookies in the temporary files folder?. Click ?Ok?.

For Internet Explorer 5, 5.5. AOL 5 & AOL 6 users: Ensure the ?General? tab selected. Click on the ?Settings? button then ?View Files?. The Temporary Internet Files folder will open. you can delete all the cookies by clicking on ?Edit? and then ?Select All?. This will highlight all the files. Click on ?File? then ?Delete?.

  1. You must have cookies enabled

For Internet Explorer 6, AOL 7, AOL 8 & AOL 9 users: Click on the ?Privacy? tab then click on the ?Default? button so that ?Privacy? is set to medium. Click on the ?Edit? button. In the ?Address of website? box type www., click on ?Allow? then ?Ok?.

For Internet Explorer 5, 5.5 users AOL 5 & AOL 6: Go to the ?Security? tab and click the ?Custom Level? button. Scroll down the list until you come to the ?Cookies? heading. Ensure that ?Allow cookies that are stored on your computer? and ?Allow per-session cookies (not stored)? are both enabled. If they are not, please tick the appropriate box and click ?Ok?.

  1. Now close down your browser, re-open, and try signing in again.

If you are using Netscape 4, 6 or 7:

  1. Make sure that Netscape is open and select ?Edit' then 'Preferences?. The 'Preferences' window will appear. From the left hand menu click on the ?+? symbol next to ?Advanced? to expand the menu, then click on ?Cache?. 2. Click on the ?Clear memory cache? and ?Clear disk cache? buttons. 3. Below the heading ?Document in cache is compared to document in Network? make sure ?Every time I view the page? ? or if you are using Netscape 4 ?Every time? ? is selected. Press ?Ok? to confirm these settings. 4. If you are using Netscape 6 or 7; double-click on the ?Privacy & Security? category. You should now see the option ?Cookies? below. Please click on this option. The option ?Cookies are small pieces of information that some websites ask to store on (and later retrieve from) your computer?, will appear. Select ?Enable all cookies?. If you are using Netscape 4; Highlight ?Advanced? by clicking on it once, on the left-hand side menu. Under the ?Cookies? heading, ensure that ?Accept all cookies? is selected.

  2. Now close down your Netscape, re-open, and try again.

FIREWALL / COOKIES BLOCKER SETTINGS

If you are using a personal firewall or cookie-blocking software, there will be options to block cookies. Please consult the software help-files with your personal firewall or cookie-blocking software to un-block the cookie.
