Habitat Oliva Kitchen - Good or Bad?

Really like the look of them and thinking of buying the range but would llike to hear if anyone has used them. Are they a pain to keep oiling, does the wood start to warp after a while and are freestanding units better or worse for cleaning (gaps between each unit crumbs etc.)
Thanks

I've got the sink, shrub, though we've had it for 6 and a half years and I think the design has changed slightly since then. Tbh I loved it then and still do (well, as much as one can love a sink!). Also, I have never oiled it (). Probably because of this the wood has darkened a bit, particularly where you stand to wash up. But actually it just looks like it's developing a patina! At some point I would like to sand and oil it, actually. The ceramic looks good too, though it does show some wear. Again, I think that just adds character. There's certainly been no warping, and we've had a couple of floods under ours. I really like the solidity of them. Can't really help on the freestanding nature of it, as we only have the one unit, and being a sink, it doesn't move about! Obviously it's open underneath (no plinth) so a complete trap for balls, cars, crayons etc.

God, would never have thought I could write so much about a sink!

wow - thanks ponygirl. i'm still cooing after them, though hadn't thought about all the stuff that can go underneath them - we've got 3 boys and a very hairy dog. i use to be so tidy in my previous life!

Do it, do it, go on, you know you want to...!

Bad influence? Me?

I would have like the whole lot, but too pricey in the end.

We have the dishrack and small kitchen table and would like to start buying a few of the free standing units (we're slowly changing our kitchen). We bought the table cheaply because it was a customer return as it was slightly warped - you didn't notice when sitting at it although when you stand back you could tell and it made one of the drawers stick. However I think the warping has practically disappeared now. I do wax it about once or twice a year but I think it would probably be fine without.
When we get the other bits we want (mainly the sink unit) we'll wait till one of the 15% off promotion days - register on their mailing list for an invite.

I have the butchers block and it is great and looks great too.I scrub it and then use a spray oil/polish thing to keep it oiled and it looks good about 3 yrs old and still going.
