Can anyone suggest a place where there might be possible discounts? Am considering buying one for DH's birthday

Oh, thanks for all of those Frenchgirl. Plenty of Brel and Brassens already, but will check out the others. Before you get too appreciative of dh he will make vomiting noises over any Gainsbourg.
Also have plenty of Trenet/Piaf/Sablon/Mistinguett/Chevalier for those nostalgia wallows (and an entire CD of Tino Rossi )

No J-P Smets please Pupuce! But how could I forget Plastic or indeed Borrrrn, borrrrn, borrrrn to be alive!
Just wondered if we were witnessing another Mn secret pregnancy...bonne chance pour la formation! Did you find the right venue in the end? I am on a subversive mission to import as much evidence of pregnancy, childbirth and lactation into the City as possible so am sorry that Bishopsgate did not work out...

Frenchgirl · 08/02/2006 14:06

at Tino Rossi
PMSL

Marina · 08/02/2006 14:10

Yeah, yeah. Remember I honeymooned on the Ile de Beaute, was mistaken for a Parisienne by a cute, gnarled old market trader and given a free bag of nepres etc...Tino has resonance chez Marina... but I do think that Rino Tossi (thanks Goscinny and Uderzo) might be nearer the mark

on both fronts Pupuce, I am so sorry about PM. I know other Mners are grappling with this, and it had a major effect on one of my oldest friends.
Ilana organised a super Mn Christmas party in Coram's Fields in 2004. It is nice to see you again Ilana!

IlanaK · 08/02/2006 15:13

Thanks Marina

I have been a mnetter for a long time too - sometimes more active than others. I am going through an active phase right now!

pupuce · 09/02/2006 10:39

pupuce · 09/02/2006 10:41

Well Bishopgate is £440/day !!! - I e-mailed them again and they finally replied !
No my problem is I can't find the thread we discussed all these venues on..... really weird ! Can you help?

No you're right. It has gone
Well, I can't find it.
Bugsy had a central London suggestion, but I'm sorry, I don't recall what it was - hotel offering good, moderate conferencing I think.
I am disappointed in Bishopsgate, that's such a shame.
There is somewhere called International Student House in Portland Place, W1, which librarians use for training, so that can't be expensive. I have been there as a delegate and it was fine. Never booked it though.
Or, how about the Friends Meeting House on the Euston Road? If it's good enough for Abu Hamza and pals ...
