Washing Up

ds (2 next week) is into washing up at the minute but he gets soaked and I'm fed up of changing his clothes all the time. Anyone know of a pvc backed apron or plastic apron that I can buy to keep him dry?

ours is too Selja & you can get them from Great Little Trading Company - see online ad on Mumsnet.

My mil got my ds a painting apron from the early learning centre which would fit the bill.
At what age do boys STOP wanting to wash up????

Baby Bjorn do a nice smock which is long-sleeved, waterproof and more flexible and lightweight than PVC-backed cotton. It does for water and paint-play and is a good portable bib as well. It's supposed to fit children 2-5 and is certainly generously sized.
I think I got it from the mail-order company Perfectly Happy People.

Thanks for the suggestions I'll have a look. Had ds dressed up in his rain mac today but he still got wet so until I get this apron I'll have to put his wellies, rain dungarees and rain mac on! I'm hoping my boy never grows out of it. dh actually likes housework and finds ironing therapeutic (what sort of sick person am I with?!) so hopefully ds will take after him.

You could try a splash suit, we've got one and use it in the garden and for washing the car. Came from Blooming Marv. and its fab. All in one, zips up the middle, elastic ankle and wrist cuffs, looks like a chemical spillage suit!!! Great fun!

I used to strip mine down to pants (easy to dry afterwards), put a towel under the chair to stop it slipping. You still have to change but at least it's not into a clean set of clothes. Also have mop, plastic tubs etc in the bath
