They've all been spillers so far!!!

I found that they were either spillers, or impossible to drink from.

I was just going to post this as I'm sick of wasting money on expensive cups that turn out to ve crap.
I'm sick of finding puddles from my toddlers everywhere!

monkeypuzzeltree · 14/04/2012 22:19

Avent cups, also do not require engineering degree to put back together!

cece · 14/04/2012 22:20

Give them a beaker...

Clary · 14/04/2012 22:22

Give them an open cup with a handle at that age and let them sit in a high chair or wherever they sit to drink.

No need for a toddler to wander around trailing a cup of drink; so spilling or not is neither here nor there IMO.

Pascha · 14/04/2012 22:26

I agree with the open cup at home but it's really not practical when out in the car/buggy etc. Our best one seems to be a random sainsburys one but the valve has a habit of dropping into the water.

MerryMarigold · 14/04/2012 22:29

I think sit down and have a drink at specific times - breakfast, mid morning, lunch, mid afternoon and evening meal. There is probably no need to drink more than that! If you need something when you're out, those water bottles with a pull out, sucky bit are great or a fruit shoot.

These are both quite good. My dd still likes to use them both and I'm OK with her having them in the car seat or pushchair - they haven't yet spilled, though the avent one only works if you keep the valve in.

Otherwise box drinks don't spill much...

Why do you need a drink when out in the car etc? I don't have a drink on the go in the car? I really don't get why toddlers need to have a drink in their hands at all times.

If you are out for several hours, stop and have a drink (from a cup , which you bring with you) at an appropriate moment.

Pascha · 14/04/2012 22:54

I have a drink on the go in the car. And why shouldn't my son have a drink in the buggy? Am I breaking some unwritten code? I'm mean, so what? Who cares?

notso · 14/04/2012 23:11

Possibly due to thirst! What a curious question.

MerryMarigold · 14/04/2012 23:13

It's not about thirst really though is it? My kids are always hungry for chocolate!

cece · 14/04/2012 23:15

I think this is the one I have and it seems OK.

notso · 14/04/2012 23:34

It is for my DC they only drink for thirst purposes, it's DH and I who are recreational drinkers!

I didn't realise children drank for any other reason.

Clary · 14/04/2012 23:56

No your son can have a drink in the buggy if you like. I was just going on the rule (seems to be so) that all lidded cups either spill or don't allow the child to drink, so a good solution was not to use one as they are bobbins. This makes a drink on the go in the buggy a bit difficult to manage. But by all means persevere - just you may have a soggy toddler!

ThePetiteMummy · 15/04/2012 00:03

I find the non spill Tommee Tippee cups very good, the Explora ones (got ours in Boots). Dd is just 2, & drinks from an open cup during the day, but has started to ask for a drink to take to bed, which usually ends up laying on the duvet, so these cups are ideal. (She only drinks water by the way, so no issues with drinks after brushing teeth!)
