Bit of a car seat problem

My dad has just rung to ask me if i got the car seats out of xp's car because my dad and my brother will be transporting my kids once a week now too and from theirs.

I haven't got the seats they are still in xp's car. Ds's is a Britax one with 5 point harness etc and tbh it is gonna be a right pain having to have that hanging round the house all week incase i need it for my dads car. Can't keep it at my dads incase xp needs it for his car too.

Basically kids are 8, 6 and 3 and so I need 3 lightweight car seats. Main prob though is money. I don't have the money to buy any but obviously it is a prioirty so i will just have to find it from somewhere, but which cheap seats are any good ??

No idea honey, just bumping for you.

Dunno about any good but Argos have cheapish seats by Little Shield or whatever - have the right British Standard Mark or European whatever...hope this helps.

For the 8 and 6 year old, can you manage with just boosters? And for a 3-year-old, for small once-in-a-while journeys, you could use one without an integral harness? Britax do cheap ones, we keep one at my PIL's, so that it's there, if I take the train out.

Will it be ok to buy the really cheapy ones though do you think ??

Mothercare have boosters for £10 which would be fine for dd's and a high back booster for £25.

Should those be ok ??

Argos have one for about £18 - don't know how good it is tho' it does have the relevant "marks"

I think it really depends on how often they'll be using the seats. If they're going to be in them 4 hours a day, every day, then yeah, you want the best possible seats. If it's for a half hour per week, then something basic is fine. (The more time they spend in the car, the greater the chance of a crash or emergency stop.)
