Tramplines. Is there measurement the outer diameter or the actual jumpspace diameter?

And all sorts of other questions!
We don't have a massive garden, and I don't particularly want a mahoosive trampoline taking up all the lawn space (which we'll have, once we've had the garden revamped - but that's another story) But nor do I want to regret going 'bigger'

My DStepMum just gave us £300 for a trampoline for the boys. (2 DS, 2 and 5 - we have a tiny Plum trampoline which the 2 year old will use now and again but he's very robust and we want to expand)

I've been googling all sorts, and have come to the following conclusions:

I still don't know what I want yet but I do know:

I'm happy to use all that to get a decent one, although we cant afford top of the range. I'm even happy to spend an extra 50 quid, but no more.
I want to get on there myself with them sometimes.
I think more than 10ft might be the max (have got a hose in the garden in a circle to 'mock up' the trampoline - but that depends on the question in my post title.
I think that Jump for Fun sounds like a good company. I've looked at allsorts - oval, round, octagonal. Oval sounds best for our garden, however the companies that sell oval dont seem to get great reviews, and if that is the case, I'd rather go round. I'm not sure why you'd want octagonal? (apparently theres less bouncing into the middle which I get might be annoying)

Anyone out there can you assist?!!

we have one of these and it was the with of the whole top not just the bed. I chose it because of the springs being completely enclosed and it not needing to be completely level. You have a small amount of tolerance on each leg. The octagonal one also had a higher weight to size thing. Kids are very happy with it. Dh put it together really good instructions. I see they do round ones with the same surround. John Lewis really helpful it does say the diameter in metric on their website. I paid extra to get a time slot which was great as we were going away on that day put wanted to get it set up on the bank holiday Monday.

We bought one of the 9ft x 10ft Jump for Fun ones before Easter for 2 dd's 5 years and 7 years. There is plenty of room on it for both of them and no bouncing into each other so far, I'd highly recommend it. Plus it's plenty strong enough for me to have a go. It was pretty easy to put together, although make sure you read the instructions well. They are very helpful when you phone them too.
