Have you tried theses? I personally love + covet the micralite. Both my kids just curl up in it + go to sleep. And it is so easy to manouver. I haven't actuaally got one though

We have a volo, i'd say its adequare-very light. Bit fiddly on cobbles, useless on sand (but so are most buggies).

Micralite you can push one handed too.

I've got a Volo. It's very light and easy to fold up. But not great on cobbles or sand. But I think the best all terrain buggies tend to be hulking 3 wheelers, so not suitable as a holiday buggy. The Volo is just about possible but not brilliant one handed, as it's got 2 handles. For easy one handed wheeling you need one with one handle, not two. I think you've got to compromise for a holiday = i.e go for something quite cheap, so I would go for the volo.

Hi,
I have a micralite that we took away in the UK last year and it was great. This year however we are going abroad and due to space and planes etc I am borrowing my friends quinny which folds up smaller than the micralite (which is compack but long, liks a buggy would fold IYKWIM)
Hope this helps

Lou

I have a zapp and it's great for the shops but on rough terrain dd gets chucked about like a rag doll and the obvious problem that is doesn't recline which would you could probably do with a recliner on you're hols.

longwaytogo · 03/02/2006 21:31

quinny not brill on uneven surface and if your on your own has no storage space, and if you hang things on the handle it will tip up as soon as child gets out. Easy to steer with one hand although it has two handles. But in saying that I love mine.

picnikel · 03/02/2006 21:36

much as I'm fond of my Zapp but

  • it doesn't recline
  • you can't fold it down easily with one hand
  • the hood doesn't cast a lot of shade So maybe not the best if you're on holiday on your own.

i'd go for the micralite everytime! it is a fantastic buggy, i had one for ds2 but he was really too big for it when i brought it (almost 3) so i sold it quite quickly and i am going to buy one again for our holiday this year when the new baby will be about 5 months old, as they fold small, easy to steer, easier on sand, pebbles etc than the other two mentioned, also like the pop up raincover, invaluable for holidays inthe uk and that a little parasol fits onto the frame nicely so can be picked up cheap from mothercare etc.
volo, at 14 months my 2 were still falling asleep in their buggy and this one doesn't recline. i had the zapp and hated it, found it tipped too easily, would roll off across the shop/street if didn't put the brake on firmly enough, and that was on a flat surface!, no shopping basket and no recline!

leggymamba · 03/02/2006 21:40

I've got exactly same problem - after going and trying loads I'm going for a Jane Energy. Has better wheels than any in Mothercare and costs about £90 so not too expensive.

I'm going to pick it up tomorrow so will let you know how it works in reallife!

lanismum · 03/02/2006 21:50

iv got a zapp and i hate it, horrible plasticy wheels, like others have said, it doesnt recline, no shopping basket. also iv found that it rolls away on flat surfaces?? can be tricky to put up too (or is that just me)

divamummy · 04/02/2006 10:50

I have a Micralite and I am very satisfied with it : it's light, easy to fold (but not with the footmuff on), you can steer it with one hand (I tend to walk just next to it and talk to DD whilst walking !) . It goes on almost all surface, although on dry sand it is not that easy : you would have to roll on the 2 back wheels.
On the downside, folded it's still quite big (especially the wheels) : it doesn't go in all cars.

Have a nice holiday !

mogwai · 06/02/2006 21:39

so the micralite reclines, right?

leggymamba · 12/02/2006 13:11

Had my energy for over a week now and am loving it. We went for a long walk through woods/off road and it coped really well.

My minor complaint is the seat doesn't sit really up right - however ds is laid back so not really a problem this time! I don't think you would be able to fold with one hand - again I don't find it too much of a problem
