Fencing them in!!

Does anyone know where I can get some sort of expandable fencing/mesh type thing that can be expanded to fit the entrance to the drive. we are debating the merits of permanent gates but these will limit the car access gap so are reluctant to do it but would love to know that the kiddies could not escape - any ideas please????

We had enough trouble finding something to go accross our hall! (dp made one in the end)

The only thing I can think of is that Mothercare do a multi-shape playpen thing that folds out so you can use it as temporary fencing - it may be long enough, but may also be just as much of a pain as a gate. It was about £70 and for an extra £20 (I think) you can buy a tent thing that goes over it to make a playhouse. Pricey, but did look good!

Thanks Lucy123 - I am thinking that I will have to get creative with wood and garden trellis mesh actually but hoped to make the job easier

Is this any good? Second one down.

I have the indoors version of that at the top of my stairs and the design is very good.

I wondered about getting that indoor one as we keep banging into our metal gate in the dark. At least a mesh one wouldn't make an almightly CLANG, or hurt as much.

That's excellent - thanks!

The only downside to it is that it needs to be mounted on the wall either side of the opening and as such it is not always possible to put it where you want it. I ended up attaching some wooden srtips to bits of the walls to make sure I hade the right are to mount it on in the right place.

Hhm, sounds a little complex for my limited diy skills. Was thinking of something involving either sticky tape or a pressure fit.
Guess I'll have to put up with bruised shins and just keep waking the kids up with the sound of bone on metal followed by hissed invective.
