When the screen went on mine they replaced it straight away as well. Surprising service, but brilliant!

chipmonkey · 22/02/2012 21:18

They did for me as well although I had only had it a week so proper order, IMO. But if you think about it, if you have a kindle, you are more likely to buy books from amazon then anywhere else so it's probaby worth their while to replace a device which is likely to be cheaply made.

Oh. Thank. God. I've just managed to lean on mine which has done something to the screen and it's all distorted - came on here to wail, but sounds like amazon are reasonable . Does it have to be within warranty - I got mine about 10 months ago

alittlebitshy · 02/04/2012 16:29

they made us pay for replacing ours (not the entire cost
of new but still) when one of ours got sat on....

Hi - I agree kindle staff were great got a replacement free of charge next day Grin only problem is I can't see all my purchases on new kindle account only old 1 Sad

FairyArmadillo · 02/04/2012 23:13

Bought mine at John Lewis after much researching including reading threads like these on MN. John Lewis told me Amazon replace faulty and broken Kindles for the reason chipmonkey said. They'd rather give out free replacements and keep us buying from their website. Mine is 3 weeks old and still working!

Neverme · 03/04/2012 10:53

Righty-oh. So new one has arrived having rung Amazon yesterday. I'm sure the bloke on the phone said it would be set up with my account and previous purchases, but it wasn't. Can;t seem to get it to scan for our wi-fi network either. Obviously it needs charging. Any suggestions?

minsmum · 03/04/2012 10:59

I think iit needs to be registered to your account and your old one deregistered

alittlebitshy · 03/04/2012 12:33

It normally has enough charge to get it set up. What happened when you turned it on? did it ask you to input your amazon account details? If so just do that and you should be fine.

oh - will it not scan at all for th wifi? hmmmm. Perhaps charge then and see if that helps...

I didn't de-register our broken one until we had made sure the new one was working fine - you have have multiple kindles on one account (we have 3, so had 4 during the changeover, and all was fine)

Neverme · 03/04/2012 20:34

Ah thanks all.

So ... rang Kindle support again, and Kindle no.3 is on it's way to me! The one that arrived today wouldn't find any wi-fi networks at all - the old one quickly picked up ours and all the others in the street.

one day I shall get to finish my page turner
