Christmas Shapes Cookie Cutters

Paula71 · 18/11/2003 00:03

I know someone here will know where I can get cookie cutters that are shaped like Christmas Trees etc. Anything interesting really.

I thought IKEA were supposed to get them in for Christmas but so far nothing and the stores aren't exactly handy. Everywhere else seems to do just scone shapes.

Any ideas folks? (By the by am based in West Lothian, near Edinburgh so London stores are not an option.)

Wow ks, the Tchibo site is great, lots of stuff for presents there. The children's cake tins are the cheapest I've seen anywhere. Why does it say new every Wednesday, does its' stock change every week?

Connected to this conversation - honest!
I would like to make some christmas cookie tree decorations - can anyone recommend a recipie?
I presume that is has to be "harder" than a normal recipie to stop it crumbeling?

Right I'm off to Richmond then!
Sonnet, Nigella does a couple of good recipes. I use the one from 'How To Eat', make them at Christmas Eve & they last about a week on the tree, or a bit less depending on how many 'accidentally' fall off & get eaten! I'm at work though, so I can't post the recipe

Sonnet · 18/11/2003 12:20

Thanks Bettys - will look it up!!

hoxtonchick · 18/11/2003 17:12

ks you are just taunting me now! am working my way up to cake making, i promise. though will probably be on here requiring step-by-step guidance when i get round to it.

re tchibo - ds is definitely getting the wooden trainset, though i think for his b'day in january.

Paula71 · 18/11/2003 20:13

Knew you lot would come out trumps for me!

That Tchibo site is fantastic. We are going to Germany in early December so I may try and find a shop near where we are staying.

There are fantastic cookie recipes in Annabel Karmels Complete Party Planner which is what I need the cookie cutters for! I am giving people cookies this Christmas as am fed up buying things for people only to hear they already got that - so this year it is all homemade and if they don't like it tough! Still, we'll have fun.

No, love!

(Having said that...I did have some Christmas cookie cutters once, but it was years ago and I have no idea where I got them from. So nur.)

Sonnet · 19/11/2003 14:44

Great idea Paula71!.
I did make some presents last year and have plans to make more this year.

My DD1 then aged 7 did some glass painting on cheapo glass vases and oil burners for grannies, aunties etc...

What other things are you making?
Do you make Xmas cards - and deos it work out cheaper than buying??

Have fun!!

Hi there are some in Matalan 100 cutters for £10. There are all different shapes in there including christmas. Good for all year and cheaper than buying them sepperately. Think thats a brill idea for gifts and also h/made truffle chocs mmmmmm..... might just keep them all for myself

champs · 19/11/2003 17:11

sorry for double post, forgot to add that cookie cutters make excellent cake decorations too, use them to cut icing!!!

Paula71 · 23/11/2003 00:37

Thanks everybody, must check our local Matalan next week!

I am going to start making my own Christmas cards next year when twin ds' are old enough to help. I have a bunch of paints and stamps so would only need to buy the actual card and envelopes and I think they come in handy packs for those of us who wouldn't know where to start in making envelopes!

I am not very arts and crafts but am trying to be. There is a cross-stitch I started for my babies when I was pregnant, they will be 2 after Christmas and it is still not finished. I have a friend in America who makes wonderful gifts, from photo frames to trinket boxes. So I may give those a try.

Another homemade gift is a hamper I make up for my parents every year. I just fill a decorated box with goodies they will enjoy and use. My Mum especially loves the little treats I put in. PIL won't get one as they need to see a receipt showing how much was spent, can't wait to see their faces when I hand them the cookies
