M&P Pliko - Toddler Step

Can a toddler comfortably stand on the toddler step without having to bend backwards away from the hood of the pushchair??

Am thinking of getting a 2nd hand one and want all the info before buying.

Thanks.

Have used a Litaf seat to go with it and was fine (although did occasionally bash my shins on it when walking - but I have a pretty long stide).

But can't they just use the step built into the back of the buggy or is it too close to the hood to work?

Oh... Mine is 4 years old and there isn't a step as such that a toddler could stand on, so can't help there I'm afraid.

fairydust · 22/01/2006 20:37

they wouldn't be able to use the step it isn't big enough for a child to stand on

its not a step for toddlers/small children to stand on, its a leverage step for the parent to push down to help go up and down curbs etc.

small kids could stand on the back, but not for any real length of time as the gap to get their feet into is very small and it would make them lean over the top of the buggy and they have no hand rail to hold onto.

i use the steps for my nearly 3 yo. u have to push the hood forwards a bit and can only have the seat in its most uprioght position. He holds the handles but a bit further down. there is apparently an italian one which has a proper toddler step but dunno how reliable that info is.

Its not supposed to be for a toddler and has made my buggy a bit wobbly but on;y a little bit

As vickiyumyum mentioned, I was told in a shop that Pilko had always designed that as a place to push the chair open with your foot, and not as a place for child to stand - which seemed odd to me at the time as it does look very like a place for a child to stand. Shop said that they really didn't recommend it, but I have seen plenty of kids doing it and it seems to work, if a bit uncomfortable.

I'm susrpised shops say its not for children, in the italian catalogue of mamas and papas (they ahve a different trade name but its the same thing) theys how pictures of children on the step and they explicitly say that that is its purpose!!

My dd (4.5) often rides there, and if it's nor the most comfy place, I'm quite happy as I prefer her to walk and that is a last resort kind of thing!
