Stuff for getting blood out of a carpet.

Dh collapsed a couple of nights ago, and bashed his face when he hit the floor. He's back to normal now, but we have blood drops over a lot of the bedroom carpet. I haven't touched them yet (had other priorities) so - can anyone recommend a bloodstain remover type product?

(Or can I claim for a new carpet on the house insurance?)

I dont see why you couldnt claim for a new carpet.

I find 1001 (yellow spray bottle) gets rid of most things.

How is DH now BB?

I think your can get Stain Devil sticks for blood but have never tried them. Sounds nasty -poor BB DH

Ace is FANTASTIC at getting blood out! It all froths up and takes the stain with it. When its finished frothing, mop it up and then put some more on. It come out more with each application.

Insurance companies generally like you to have tried a carpet cleaning company first, but they'll give you a new carpet, I've found....

So, did you trip him?

Agree with the stain removers but just a useful tip

The saliva of the person who's blood it is will neutrilise blood and prevent it from staining but I think the blood needs to be fresh - just a tip if you ever prink your finger and get blood on your clothes

i find that cold water and old fashioned bath soap takes out dried blood from cotton fabrics so would try it on the carpet.

Ok - Ace it is, for a start...

Mascaraohara - I can just imagine if he does it again i'll be standing over him - phoning 999 and yelling 'Spit, Spit!'

He's OK now QV - looks like he's been in a fight and he's excited about having been in his first ambulance (never grow up do they) - they did tests to check for heart problems (he woke up with excruciating chest pain then collapsed when he stood up) which came back normal - they aren't sure what happened but the best guess is that his body had an 'over-reaction' to painkillers he was taking for back pain, when he hadn't eaten all day due to a nausea-type bug.

The old fashioned method is salt, with a carpet you can pile on damp salt and let it soak up the stain, hoover once dry and repeat until gone, works for undies too (but don't try hoovering your knickers .

I have beige carpets ( mad I know) and I use Vanish carpet cleaner and it hasn't let me down yet, even with blood!

Ammonia works on knickers. (Stinks though.)

Ace works on knickers too.... used it a few times!

Hows the carpet? Hows DH?
