Where can I get things from to stop my new rug slipping and sending dh arse over tit?

My new rug slides all over my wooden floor as dh is forever charging about (I have told him to walk slower) and he nearly fell over yesterday. Face was a picture.

Although highly comical, he may do himself an injury and I couldn't cope with the moaning.

thanks.

xx

IKEA. Rubber things. Is that a detailed enough explanation to confidently find them?

Prettybird · 19/01/2006 14:23

IKEA has stuff that is sutable for use on wooden floors.

FrayedKnot · 19/01/2006 14:24

Lakeland rug gripper stuff I think?

chicagomum · 19/01/2006 14:27

just got back from homebase and they stock asimilar thing to ikea.

B&Q sell a net like mat (iyswim) that goes under the rug, nearly as big as the rug. IME it works better than the tapes that you get. Our rugs are on wooden floors btw.

oliveoil · 19/01/2006 14:41

the B&Q thing, do you have to glue it on or do you just lay the rug on top?

Lakeland you say?......mmmmmmmmm I can feel an unnecessary yet vital shopping spree coming on.

Yep definitely Lakeland, just checked, it is called Grip-a-Rug tape. Sticks on back of rug. No idea if it works because never actually used it, think it may have been bought on one of those unnecessary yet vital shopping sprees.

Could send it to you but then you would be deprived of one of the above, and I wouldn;t want to do that. Needs must.

Indeed.

Now then, assorted plastic tubs which I won't ever use and just leave to fester under the sink....tick.

The B&Q stuff you just cut to size & lay on the floor under the rug, no gluing necessary. It's quite a bit more expensive than the tape, but I didn't find the tape worked very well. You can also find lots of interesting bits stuck in the mesh (on the once a year I every lift the rug!)

I sweeep stuff under the rug sometimes when I can't be bothered .
