Righto...nearly there with the new buggy buying and have narrowed it down to the techno xt or the classic...any advice or recommendations greatly received. Is the xt just sporty and the classic comfy??

Don't know if it'll hepl, but I'm in the same position, and have decided to go for the xt. The classic comes with a cosytoes, but I don't like it much. The xt has a slightly higher handle (major factor for me)
Oh and mothercare online have the xt on sale for £100 if you take an old colour (marine I think)

Thanks Jasnem...I think perhaps you're right and the fact that you have pointed out the sale price in mothercare just does it for me.....although is there no mumnetters with the classic that they couldn't do without???

winniewoo, the Techno XT has nicer fastening clips on the harnsess I think, but what made it for me was the handle adjustment, I'm just under 6ft, and the handles have 3 height posisitions which saves my aching back, especially pushing a heavy toddler!
The wheels are more robust than regular buggy wheels, we had one from mothercare where all the wheels wore on the outside (they all seem to do it) but the Techno, even though we've haad it for two years inc. a trip to florida, is still going strong!
As for comfort, I think it is meant to be more comfy, but they all seem rather hard to me! I suppose its that prams that are all padded, buggies are just quick run -arounds so to speak!

HTH!

We have a Classic at the moment. I bought it when ds2 was 9 weeks old as I thought that it was better padded than the XT. Other than the fabrics they are essentially the same buggy though. The apron bit on ours has been really good this winter with a smallish baby and I also liked the relatively unfussy styling. We had the XT for dd and I had no compaints with that really, just didn't fancy all the harness covers and sporty styling this time! HTH .

we have a techno xt too
and we think it's great really easy to manouvre and it came with rainhood. whatever you get check it fits in the boot of your car tho'

LemonTart · 20/01/2006 08:01

we have techno xt and love it. Would not swap for the world. Does exactly what you want it to do, lightweight, easy to story, lift into a car, sensible practical designs. Prefer it to the classic from a design point of view but no experience of classic - as we bought the other one

vickiyumyum · 20/01/2006 08:05

i think if you were using it from birth or for a younger baby i would go for the classic, as it has a footmuff and head hugger, so making it more enclosed for them. if you were buying for an older baby/toddler i would go for the xt, its cheaper, the footmuff is usually outgrown quickly, and i just prefer the look of the xt. mothercare has them on sale as has already been said and kiddicare.com do an exclusive colour for about £108.

Stilltrue · 20/01/2006 10:13

I thought both had adjustable handles; only diff is styling ?

vickiyumyum · 20/01/2006 16:31

thats right, just one comes with footmuff and head hugger (classic) and the other (xt) has a more 'sporty' look to it.

tonton · 20/01/2006 16:47

I know the xt is MEANT to be suitable from birth but when is it REAlly suitable from? 3/4 months?

vickiyumyum · 20/01/2006 19:06

personally i would have said older about 5/6 months, but i have several friends who have used it from birth or a few months old.
