I've got the price for the one I want for my dining room. I want a pattern round the edge. It looks gorgeous but just went on the website and the cleaning bit scared me! I'm not a good cleaner. How do you clean it from day to day? How long have you had it?
Isn't mumsnet wonderful, I just knew that someone would have one!

the cleaning bit puts people off I think. he sealed it once and the rest of the time we mop it. No prob -- drys in a jiffy

We've had one in our kitchen for a couple of years and love it. As far as cleaning, I'm ashamed to say it's just been 'stripped' once (when we got it) but we use the routine cleaner regularly - easy - and then DH will use the sealer every so often. Just read the website the other evening after reading the other kitchen floor thread, and discovered that we should be stripping and re-sealing it at regular intervals ... ooops. Well, it hasn't done any harm! A job for the Christmas holidays.

did you get one L?

Mummysurfer · 30/12/2003 09:06

We have one in the kitchen, the hall and now the dining room. Never done the stripping thing, did find a man who does it but never got round to ribging him! I hoover it then use dettol floor wipes on it. No problem. I you're still thinking about it I'd shop around as we paid £25 square metre, but were quoted as much as £45 plus £20 per metre prep and fitting!!!

lilibetsdp · 30/12/2003 11:57

as we've just moved we are still offline at home so...

Yes we got the floor - was fitted just before Christmas and looks and feels lovely. Everyone who has seen it has been very impressed too. It stood up to the new table (built Christmas Eve) and the 11 people for Christmas dinner very well - may need cleaning soon though. And we havent sealed it and weren't left instructions.

so is there anything we should do immediately? or is it ok to clean it straight away?

Mummysurfer · 30/12/2003 12:47

I'd just sweep it, then wipe/mop it with floor wipes. If it looks good then just keep doing this. The stripping and sealing thing looks like a PIA if you ask me. my motto is 'don't fix it if it's not broken'.
