Fairy story anthologies - any recommendations?

I have to buy dd a Christmas pressie with some money sent by an elderly overseas relative. We have agreed on a book of fairy stories as this is not something already owned by ds.
I'd be really grateful to hear from anyone with recommendations for a nice, illustrated volume. Even though dd is tiny I'm looking for a version which will last for years and includes the less gory versions of the classic tales like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast etc. Also hoping for lots of pretty colour pictures and line drawings. We have up to £25.00 to spend. All help gratefully received!

Dd has got a really lovely one with the most beautiful illustrations, which she had for her last birthday. Unfortunately I can't remember off the top of my head its title or author, and its in her room. Wouldn't be able to find it without the light on so will look in the morning and let you know tomorrow evening.
I think it was about £15.

My dd has this one by Berlie Doherty. The stories are beautifully written and the illustrations are lovely, quite timeless and not too childish. Amazon has it as a paperback too, but my guess is you want a hardback for this sort of present.
HTH!

Just came back to put in details of dd's one and its exactly the same as tamum recommends. Plus because she's clever and can do a link, I don't even need to type in all the details.
It really is a lovely book.

agree with tamum and posey, dd has the same book (only it's the French version) and it's really beautiful and well written, it will last years.
go for it!!

Thanks so much - I'd have faffed around using words like Perrault and Grimm and never found such a nice-sounding re-write.
Perfect!
