Any 7-seaters which can take Isofix with support legs?

If anyone can help here, we'd be grateful. Trying to find a new car; ideally we want a 7-seater. It'll mostly be used as 5-seater, with two Isofix car seats, but want capacity to take third child in 1-4 seat, not necessarily Isofix, and also need to be able to take 2 extra adults occasionally (DH's elderly parents - his dad would have to go in the front seat due to mobility, but we'd still need to be getting two adults into the third row...).

The problem is that all the cars that seem to be advertised as "Family MPVs with extra child safety such as Isofix points" are totally unsuitable for car seats with support legs - which are most Isofix seats, and certainly the Maxi-Cosi ones we have (Cabriofix and Priorifix).

We like VWs (had two Golfs, a Golf Plus and a Golf Estate for the past 3+ years - there's a theme here) - Touran would be perfect but for the underfloor storage/support leg problem. Don't know much about other makes so ideas welcome.

It'll be a company lease car so we're looking at new cars and will keep for 3-4 years. Not bothered about depreciation or maintenance, as not our problem Grin, but initial capital cost of the car is reflected in our cost per month so we'd rather not too expensive, and also fuel consumption is fairly important. We've currently got a diesel and happy with that. With a toddler and a baby, boot space is also important as a 5-seater (less so as a 7-seater).

Please, any ideas or experience? Need to choose new car before end of Feb, and the new baby is due within 5 weeks - we've been researching for months and keep drawing blanks.

Does a sharan not suit as can move the second row back?

Wingdingdong · 08/01/2012 20:27

Doesn't the Sharan also have underfloor storage compartments? The Maxi-Cosi fitting list suggested it did.

The Sharan would cost us around £150 per month more than the Touran, which is a fair whack... I did say to DH that if it got too expensive, we'd be better off getting a 5-seater, paying for taxis for his parents and telling his sister to get her own car to ferry her child around in... It would be handy to be able to pick up/drop off one of DD's friends occasionally, or go out with a friend plus child for the day, but that reason's less important. The main reason we're considering it is DH's family Hmm.

The one we has doesn't . The seat Alhambra is the same car - is that cheaper option?

Gigondas · 08/01/2012 20:40

And if it's dh family let em go by taxi etc. more important to get something for
Your three (assume touran probably still not big enough- its surprisingly narrow inside isn't it? )

Ford S Max. It has storage compartments, but you put a filler thingy in them if you want to use the base with leg

Spagbolagain · 08/01/2012 20:46

Assume Galaxy would be the same as it's v similar car

I am not sure older s max have 3 isofix ( am not that sad but was one of things dh and I looked at too when buying new car)

VW produce an infill for the storage compartment - it costs abut £20. We have just bought a Touran for similar family reasons and will be getiing a new isofix seat for DC2 in the Spring, so will be purchasing the infill.

Thanks all - been investigating the infill option this afternoon and it's looking promising! We have just one DC and one due Feb - the third child is a niece (well, three, actually - DD has three cousins within 4m of her own age and another 11m younger. Both my brothers have/will have DC2 within 3m of our DC2 and live 20 mins away so there's a lot of reciprocal child-swapping. Been fine till now as we can easily get a 2nd seat in, it's the third that's the prob & I don't really want to give up on the great friendship DD has with my brothers' DDs). Though there's still a bit of me that's hoping for DC3 one day... Think I'd need to get DH very drunk for that though!!
