PDA with maps or a specific Sat Nav system?

I would say the Satnav. My brother has a tom tom, and he is the world's WORST navigator. He now gets to places without getting lost (which would happen EVERY time he was going somewhere new). Tom tom is probably one of the best on the market and I would recommend. Not all of them are as good.

If you have a PDA with maps in, you'll keep having to stop to consult it, surely?

I think the only issue with a PDA is that the navigation system will use up almost all the memory and may run slower than a dedicated Sat Nav. This isn't from personal experience though, just from some people I know who have used PDA as navigation, so they may have improved in the last couple of years.

we paid £280, but Halfords have them for £250 (if still in stock). GB maps only. European map version costs about £100 more.

kwik save and somerfield have some cheap sat navs in at the moment, i have a PDA one, which is great cos it gets used for lots of other stuff too.

my dh just ordered a satnav (don't know which one) but he used satnav2u.com. I'm quite excited to use it, I'll have to go to somewhere I don't know
