Help with Bambino Mio Miosolo all-in-one resuable nappies leaking

I have recently bought Bambino Mio Miosolo all-in-one reusable nappies. I previously used Pampers disposable nappies. In 12 hours overnight I had to change the nappies 3 times and they leaked up the baby's back, through his vest, babygrow and sheet onto the mattress protector! Is this a problem with the nappies i.e. they are not as dry as Pampers disposables or am I putting them on wrong? I rarely had a problem with the Pampers disposable nappies leaking, they would swell up a lot so obviously absorbing a lot of fluids, but they rarely leaked out, even when kept on for 12 hours.

I am very keen to keep using the Miosolo nappies but I won't be able to if they continue to leak.

Does anyone have any advice?

Debbie

Have you pre-washed them? Without fabric conditioner?

They might be repelling - pour some water on them and see if the water beads up on the nappy, if it does then you need to strip them - wash hot with normal dose of washing powder and rinse rinse rinse.

They might not fit your baby very well - have you checked that they're snug at the waist/legs?

How many have you got?

I used various cloth nappies on Ds and am just starting with new DD. In all this time, I have never found a cloth nappy that lasts the night. If you want a reliable alternative to Pampers for nights, try Moltex or Bambo disposables.

No I didn't pre-wash them. I just got 3 to start off with so I could see what they're like. They're in the wash now with washing powder and nappy sanitiser on a 60 wash so I will try pouring some water on them once they've dried before trying them on the baby again! They have poppers on which allow you to change the size - they are designed to fit the child for the whole time they're in nappies - so I will try adjusting the poppers to see which fit is best.

Thanks!

Ok, having had a look at them online, my thoughts are...

All-in-one nappies are quite often not absorbent enough for overnight use, especially if your baby still has night feeds or is a big drinker. We use proper night nappies with a wrap or fleece pockets overnight and have no leaks.

Also, the miosolo nappies seem to have microfibre as the absorbent core. Microfibre isn't the most absorbent tbh, and it will wick under compression - our night nappies are bamboo and hemp.

So, I'd suggest you keep them for daytime use and get some other ones for nights - Minki fleece pockets stuffed with bamboo/hemp inserts are good, or Bamboozles with a good wrap, and neither are too expensive if you buy preloved from clothnappytree Smile

Queen has obviously done more than me and gone and looked Blush Grin

If they're microfibre, they'll not last any length of time in my experience. Really for long lasting-ness you need, as Queen says, bamboo or hemp.

Don't know if you could put a bamboo booster in though? What do you think Queen?

That's a shame. He's a big drinker and still having night feeds. 8 weeks old today but 11lb 8oz at birth so been hungry non-stop! I will have a look at different nappies for night-time use. It's all new to me! I read a review by someone saying that the Miosolo nappies lasted all night but that's not been the case for me yet!

Yeah, no reason you couldn't try a bamboo or hemp booster inside Smile

One other thing - is the inside of the nappy completely saturated? If so, it is an absorbency issue and an extra booster may work - put it towards the front of for a boy. But if there are dry bits yet it is still leaking, its more likely to be to do with the fit (gaping round legs maybe?).
