Why is he too young to shower? Take him in with you until he is old enough to stand by himself. Sorted.

TuftyFinch · 27/12/2011 22:14

Get one of those big, plastic builders buckets. Can put toys in it when he's old enough to stand up independently.

DS has had showers since he could stand unaided, about 16 months. Before then I bathed him in the kitchen sink. Sometimes we use a tiny paddling pool which came from Tesco.

We have a wet room and DD has used a Flexibath for 2 years. They're fab.

Would a slightly bigger baby bath work? Ours was the standard cheapo one from Ikea and I used it for 4 months this year to wash the 2yo and 6mo old together when we had no bathroom and it was a bit of a squash but surprisingly ok. But agree, would've used the shower if I could!

lo is 3 months old.
sprinkles had also thought about using a small paddling pool
john on the website flexibath says its ok up until theyre about 4years old, how old do you think it would be ok until? (our 4 and 5 year olds love baths when we go away, hoping they'd be able to have a splash about in one too)
mrsd thankyou for the suggestion, we live almost in teh middle of nowhere though, im not a fan of travel, its over 2hours to our nearest ikea :(
seeker and tufty thankyou too!!

My DD is a tall 3.5 year old and can still get in it.

We used one of those large plastic oblong storage boxes in the bottom of the shower when we stayed in a caravan. Combined child bath and storage for bath toys!

stockingstuffedwithnerf · 29/12/2011 21:49

Just plug up the drain with something and sit him in the bottom of shower tray, fill it up like a shallow bath. Its what we have done while on holiday works really well.

BikingViking · 29/12/2011 21:52

We just have a shower too - dc's are 3 and 5 and mainly have showers (we have the luxury of being able to choose the temperature between freezing and boiling :o ) but now and then need a good soak and splash, so we bought the biggest plastic storage boxes in Ikea (one each) and use those.

Just need to find an even bigger one for me to have a bath in now :o

oohh good idea about blocking up the drain and using the shower tray!!!! i used an old lid off a tob of butter as a 'plug' when i needed to sit in it to clean my stitches. good thinking.
bikingv :) when u find 1 big enough for adults let me know :)
