computer games for babies

We bought our 3 children a shared laptop for christmas. The older 2 have had a great time with various games and software but its a bit beyond the younger one yet. I'm sitting here now working at my laptop and she is next to me with her laptop. she has watched the photos with glee and I've now got her trying to do the stndard art package that comes installed but its a bit hard. She is only 2!!!!!

But she is desperate to copy. I presume by now there are things designed for babies. can anyone recommend anything. Even if its just a simple drawing programme, especially anything I can download for free but I'd also be happy to pay if it meant she could use it.

Thanks

Here . This site is incredible.

2nd that - what's brilliant is that it is so intuitive that my 3.5 year old can work the games out without assistance.

For even smaller kids kneebouncers was a previous mumsnet recommendation that even ds (21 months) loves

Have you looked at Reader Rabbit? My DD started on that at 2 and made progress very quickly. She's 3 in March and has been able to use the mouse to drag and click, can put the disc in herself (she thinks!) and she loves the computer. She got too good for Reader Rabbit Nursery sometime ago and moved on to Reader Rabbit Toddler, some DK ones and Jump Ahead. We also look at the CBeebies website for games. She also like looking at digital photos on the PC, esp if you set it to slideshow.

Computotgames.com. Download from Keyboard Bangers part. It's a bit basic but ds,22 months, likes it.

Thaqnks those sites are great but I've not let them loose on the net yet - figured it was safer not to so I'll have to let them play on mine for those.

I have got a reader rabbit one but I think it must be the second one. Will have a look on ebay for the nursery one thanks

(Oh and she has just managed to turn the screen orientation round by 90degrees so now have to cran your neck to see the screen. So clever. Just hope I'm clever enough to figure out how to set it back! )

My 3yo has some of those games you get for about £5 (max) from the supermarkets - def in Asda, Morrisons, etc. She has a Bob teh Builder CD which she really likes. Also Teletubbies and Pingu.

NotQuiteCockney · 12/01/2006 19:23

The Mr. Men games aren't bad, better than Bob the Builder, or Thomas (ugh), but I'd say they were too old for your little one.

Ooops, think I got it the wrong way round. Reader Rabbit Toddler comes BEFORE nursery. The good thing is that they don't need to click but it has a "dwell" function so shapes etc are picked up by just placing the mouse over them. I expect lots of these other programs do this too.
