Double Buggy - which one do you recommend?

There seem to be so many different ones and unfortunately most need to be ordered on the Internet and can't be viewed in the shops. My kids are 20 months apart and I need one of the seats to be suitable for a newborn. Any suggestions?

have you looked at the mumsnet best of...list?

15 months between my 2 and ive found the M&P Twin Aria fantastic. So lightweight and folds small enough to fit in any car boot i would think.

It is very similar to the Mothercare duolite if you wanted to check it out first.

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 21:23

I've just spent the last 9 months debating this one, have looked at loads and decided on a M&P Twin Aria side by side. Nearly bought a Phil and Teds e3 explorer but decided against it having read some bad reviews on here about them. I use the car a lot too so wanted one that would go in and out a boot quickly too.

We have just bought the chicco vilocita (side by side), it arived yesterday, very easy push, light but dh thinks it seems wide but then it has to be to fit a toddler in.

I sold mine not so long ago. I had the Maclaren Twin Traveller. My DS's are 22 months apart, so I also needed the lay flat one like you do. The Maclaren was great that it fit through most door ways. It also fit in the boot of my car (a focus) I'm really glad I had it for those first 5 months.
However, at the end of the day, it was heavy! (ds1 weighing 30lb and ds2 weighing up to 15lb at the time) I also found that although it fit in the boot of the car, I couldn't really fit anything else in! It wasn't too easy to fold and unfold either.
I wouldn't pay full price for one. If you like that type, I'd look on Ebay or Mumsnet Classifieds.
If I can answer anymore questions you have let us know!

i too have the mclaren but in long haul, ds now 17mths and dd just over 3, it hasnt lasted ,been abroad once, just regular every day use. the left handle/arm is bent and is easily straighten as it keeps bending, maybe the weight of ds has something to do with it.
my friend has the jane buggy and her kids were 19mths apart, it looks great esp for the older one.
slim pickings unless you pay a bit more i think,

sweetkitty · 11/01/2006 21:40

Have tried the Jane Powertwin too, great if you are into loads of long walks but v heavy and a nightmare in and out a small car boot.

I coveted the Mountain Buggy (my DSs 2 years apart) as you can have a proper carry cot for the baby, and it's a joy to use. So light to push, sturdy etc. But it doesn't fold small enough to go in my boot. So bought a cheaper, very similar one from the Adventure Buggy Company. No carry cot, but still suitable from birth. One of the narrowest available, 74cm wide, and fantastic to use. My DS2 is a huge 15kgs, and I don't think I could steer a Maclaren with him in!

Check out ABC

AllBuggied - I am DESPERATE for a buggy where you can have a proper carrycot for new baby.

Can you let me know where the one you wanted was from - please??

TIA

AllBuggiedOut · 12/01/2006 22:25

Carrycots are lovely, aren't they?

For info, try the Mountain Buggy Website and the bit about link{http://www.mountainbuggy.com/aus/carrycots.html\carrycots}.

They're often on ebay (might be a good option as they are pricy!), or try Kiddicare . Sure other places stock them too.

A friend has another, cheaper, one which has a carrycot but I can't remember the make. I'll text her and let you know when I find out.

lol

fairydust · 12/01/2006 22:41

the first wheels twin elite will hold a carryoot or a carseat on one side.
it's available from

www.glasgowpramcentre.co.uk

AllBuggiedOut · 12/01/2006 22:47

Sorry, link should have been carrycots

My friend has the First Wheels Twin Elite with a carrycot. I can't find the company's own website, but details at this site Keep scrolling down and you'll spot it. The carrycot bit is lovely. It seems nice to push too. On the down side, it's a bulkier than the Mountain Buggy and probably not as well made. A lot cheaper though! Friend bought hers through Little Baby Shop on ebay.

Good luck, let us know what you decide!

xx

ABO - oohh I really really like that Twin Elite one - the Moutain Buggy looks a bit huge to be humping in and out of the car.

Also the TwinElite comes in loads of colours (how shallow am I??)

Also lsat night saw a Jane double buggy so am getting info on them both but I have to say, the Twin Elite does look JUST what I'm looking for. Yay!! Will keep you posted.

Thank you SO much [grin

sweetkitty · 13/01/2006 12:45

I got my Twin Aria yesterday and am impressed very lightweight fits through the living room door too, also fits in the boot (one of my big concerns).

Kelly1978 · 13/01/2006 12:58

i've had loads between having dts and two older kids close together. for the dts I use a Jane powertwin. This is great, as it will take a car seat for a newborn. It was a lifesaver when the dts were tiny. The matrix car seat will lay flat for a newborn. The only downside is it is heavy, and can be a job to fit int he car boot. I've jsut got the new cosatoo duet lite for them for short trips. It's similar to the marco sky, but the seat reclines totally falt and the foot rest comes up so the newborn is completely cocooned. It has air tyres, so is easy to push. Plus it isn't much bigger than a single buggy. I think it's great.
