Having trailed the length and breadth of the lovely Trafford Centre in vain, I now need expert help! All I want is a towelling dressing gown for DD (age 4)to wear when she comes out of the swimming baths. Have no colour preference and would even settle for one of those elasticated, over-the-head towel affairs. Has anybody seen any in the shops recently?
Thanks very much......

We won one of these on MN last year. Really impressed and think we will buy the next size when DD is grown out of this one. She uses it at home and after swimming, and on holiday too.

We got one of the towel poncho things - a bright butterfly design I think - really cheap from Home Bargains. That was ages ago though, have to admit.

Stinky I also thought White Company, but thought I should check the budget, before I start trying to spend Judd's money.

Disney store had some on sale, might be a bit bulky but they look lovely.

John Lewis do them, not sure on the price as it was a chritmas present.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 11/01/2006 21:30

So that is why they were discounting them before Christmas, I did think it very odd, still got lots of bargains for DS and DNeice and DNephew

They are surprisingly hard to find. dd got one for Christmas from White Company - it is reversable white towelling on one side and a pretty flower pattern material on the other. It doesn;t have a hood though which took a bit of getting used to her as her old faithful white towelling robe did (which we got from J Lewis incidentally).

Roobie · 11/01/2006 21:38

Her old JL one was sized 18months although she wore it until she was 3.8!!

Judd · 11/01/2006 21:39

I tried John Lewis first of all as our previous one was from there, but they're all sort of plush-ish! Would probably have a tear in my eye if I had to part with more than a tenner, or is that ridiculously skanky of me? Will definitely try Tesco this weekend. Really do need to find one so that I can move DD up into new DG and DS into DD's. I currently have a very portly 20 month old DS wearing a Mamas and Papas DG (size 12 months)that belonged to the little girl next door! Indecent barely begins to describe it

Asda might be worth a try, it was a while ago but I got one there for DS1 (and very cheap)

1980cat · 11/01/2006 21:52

Dd has a lovely Burberry one (have to stress I didn't buy it for her, it was a present from her great gran) I saw them in a designer outlet for a tenner a few weeks ago, Gran would have paid full price which was something stupid like £50.

LIZS · 11/01/2006 22:12

We've got same problem as ds has outgrown his and now they are all fleecy. dd's came from H and M - pink Piglet one - and there were girl's ones reduced in the Disney Store.

ellceeell · 11/01/2006 22:14

What about these? Haven't tried them but they look like they might be what you want. here

rummum · 11/01/2006 22:16

Have you tried Matalan... had loads there a while ago, also M&S had some nice ones in.. they're a cross between toweling and fleece... really really soft..

Catilla · 11/01/2006 22:23

I bought ds one for Xmas. Searched high & low becuase I didn't want fleece or velour, wanted nice absorbent towelling. found lovely one from Grobag (www.bumpto3.com) - and bought it cheap from an eBay shop (look for a buy-it-now price).

Milge · 11/01/2006 22:26

Debenhams! M&S also have them.

LIZS · 11/01/2006 22:29

No boys ones in Debenhams, JL or M and S. Tried to order a Jasper Conran one in the Debenhams sale but sold out .

Am in a position of needing to replace dressing gowns too. Got a lovely pinkish one in age 3-4 (for my fairly petite 20 mo to grow into!) in JL salefor £2.75 but it is fleece. You really need towelling for absorbency after swimming, don't you?

I have seen some in Vertbaudet in a range of colours for about £14 I think. Was considering whether I could stretch to this x2.
