can anyone suggest where I can get a nice hospital bag? Don't want to take a suitcase in and at this rate it'll be me and two Tesco carriers [blush.

TIA

In my opinion you don't need a nice hospital bag, best to use a small/med sports holdall (£14 ish from any sports shop) to throw all of your stuff in, just make sure it's got a few compartments to keep things separate. Then it's also handy for going away at weekends, to the gym, whatever. Also, with family/partner coming and going daily you don't tend to need much anyway. Hospitals like to get rid of you asap and you'll want to be home soon too. Hope I haven't been a damp squib??

nothing wrong with tesco bags

you won't really care less when it comes to it

Not really answering your question, but if you're going to a hospital that makes you provide lots of stuff for the baby, I'd suggest having a separate bag for you and for baby. That way your partner can find clean vest/nappy/whatever a bit more easily and you can lie in splendour and give orders!

lol, ahy nout wrong with a tesco bag - or sainsbury's if one's gonna be posh! lol.

i'm taking a black holdal for the baby and a small wheely suitcase for me (my dressing gwon/towel are mahusive! lol) just making sure i have a nice changin bag for once the baby's here and i'm out and about.

hana · 10/01/2006 19:37

yes, have 2 seperate ones for you and the baby. I just used small canvas bags, didn't buy anything fancy

(my thoughts exactly tassie - if DH only has to worry about the LO's bag then he can hold it up for me and i'll bark orders from my bed!) lol.

i brought a really nice overnight bag from avon! its cream with black spots on and is on wheels it was reduced to £10 so a bargain too. it should be big enough for us to put mine and the babies stuff in, as am having a c/s i know what i need to take and don't have to worry about food, snacks and entertainment for labour. then dh will bring extra items ina nd take the dirty stuff homeas i need it.
as a midwife though i have seen people turn up with suitcases the size you would take on a fortnights holiday, packed to the gills and still not have the right things. so make a list and be sensible remeber you will have visitors everyday so you don't need enough vests/sleepsuits etc for the whole stay just enough for the first day and overnight.

Thanks ladies.

I ordered the Avon bag a few brochures ago but it was sold out .

Read in a magazine that Gap have a nice bag in at the moment so may try that, depending on price of course.

Or if really stuck will use DH's gym bag and be untrendy
