Lightweight Stroller needed - advice please

Hi, we are off to Australia next week for a month with 5mo ds. I need to buy a lightweight stroller that will withstand the baggage handlers many times (we are flying around quite a lot).
I ordered the Maclaren Quest but when it arrived i thought it was horrid (sorry - I know its hugely popular). It looked really uncomfy for ds and I want something that can support him well on all the different road/beach, bush type surfaces we will be on. Was considering the Graco Citisport but read that many people thought it was too plasticky and that it wouldn't last much more than 10 mnths.
If I could I would take my Bugaboo Cam as it's fab for all the terrains and really really comfy, but unfortunatley it's just too big and I don't want the baggage handlers to damage it.

As you can see I need your advice. (sorry to ramble on, I just don't want to waste my money).

what about maclaren volo? It's v basic though, and doesn't recline. Because it doesn't have any extras the baggage handlers can't break anything! you could buy a seperate sun umbrella to attach

australia at this time of year, how nice!

I have a combi dash, folds very small and has a carry bag so perfect for travelling by plane. Main reason for buying it was to go to Australia in Feb.
See here

I took it to Spain when DS was 9 months and he slept in it every evening when we went out to eat, so must be quite comfy. Does recline a bit but not flat. Have used it quite a bit since so fairly robust and v light so great for chucking in the back of the car

Only drwaback is that it is not "all terrain" but I think you will find it difficult to find one that is and small/ light enough.

My advice would be to take a baby carrier as well as a buggy. YOu can then use that when you are on rougher terrain. Also, from my experience, they are much better than buggies for carrying babys on and off planes and around the airport. Leave your arms free and they can look around. Put DS in his loads in Spain (Despite never using it here) and used it on the plane and in the airport. Great ojn the beach too. Just wish he still fitted in it for Oz

Have a fab holiday

Agree about the citisport. I think you will be hard pressed to find a lightweight that is comfortable, sturdy and will handle all terrains. Why not invest the money instead in a good box to put the Cam into, so it won't get damaged? You already know and like it, it will be well suited to handle the terrain and is comfortable for your son. Alternatively, maybe you could rent an all terrain buggy once you are out there?
