Flowers for new baby - which ones are nicest?

A colleague has just become a dad and I am about to order some flowers for him and his wife. They are not local otherwise I would know exactly where to order them from and have just had a look on Interflora website and they don't seem to have anything that really takes my fancy - can anyone recommend a flower comapny - preferably ordered online? Any of you new Mum's get some lovely flowers? If so, where from?

Soupy got some nice ones from somewhere....

I think Debenhams.com do some nice ones online. Some of them come in vases so they won't have to bother with flower arranging!

"Flying flowers" from Jersey are really lovely.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, just had a look on debenhams and JLP websites, they do some lovely arrangements and bouquets but none of them seem very suitable for a new baby.
I am sure that Interflora used to do some special arrangements for babies - it all seems to be Christmas, Christmas, Christmas.

Has anyone used Direct Flowers before? Quite like these - what do you think?

Try Marks and Spencer, Next, and Laura Ashley for flowers. The last two in particular do some unusual displays. HTH.

I sent Next flowers very recently to a dear friend and she said they were fantastic. As she's a dab hand with flowers herself, I took that as a compliment! I agree that champagne is a great idea, though.

I always think that sunflowers look lovely! They are so big and cheering, they just ooze brightness and happiness! I don't know where you could get some, but I would have appreciated a big bunch of sunflowers!

When my DS was born - I was innundated by flowers - but one friend send a big fluffy duck by interflora ( I think ) ... has lasted a lot longer than the blooms !!

Agree that the champagne is a good idea - will have a word with the boss to see what he thinks. It is their third baby, unfortunately they lost their first.
What about this

I got a teddy with flowers - it was really hard and not good quality

aloha · 07/11/2003 11:50

If you send flowers I do recommend ones in a vase of some sort - such a faff if you run out of vases I think. I like the Jane Packer at Debenhams flowers, and I wouldn't care if they weren't 'babyish' myself.

Check out yell.com and do a search for florists in their town.

Then you can order the exact flowers you want for the money you want to spend. The flowers I've ordered this way have always been really good and you speak to the person who knows how to find the maternity ward/local address.
