Non-non spill cup???

My HV advised me not to buy a non-spill cup. I can't remember why because dental-wise it doesn't matter as long as you put water in them. Might be something to do with speech. Anyway, does anyone know where to get one?

i dont know what wrong with them either, other than they can be quite hard to drink from! do you want a non spill one or not. Hard to understand your question..unless its just me?!!!

spacecadet · 08/01/2006 17:16

there is supposed to be a link with the fact that they have to suck harder to get the drink out which can damage their front teeth, anyway you can buy the anyway up cup and the avent non spill from most places tesco included.

mummytosteven · 08/01/2006 17:22

agree with other posters - the only problem with the non-spill type ones (in particular the avent magic cup with valve in) is that they are really hard to get the drink out of! My DS got on with the white plastic ikea beaker and the tommee tippee basic non-spill hard spout beaker.

Auntymandy · 08/01/2006 17:23

you were adviced not to get one? but want one..is that right?
I took the valve out of mine. Then got asda's own. Easier to suck and dont spill...too much!!

What about a Doidy cup?

doidy

Our Speech & Language Therpaist recommended these.

The avent sports cup is good and not too hard to suck.

springerspaniel · 08/01/2006 17:41

Sorry - I have written a totally confusing post! I am not looking for a non-spill, a sports one or an anyway up. I've looked at the doidy ones but I think I just want an old fashioned tommy tippee type one with a spout with three holes in that does spill if you turn it upside down. Maybe you can't get them? Maybe they are bad for your teeth too. Gosh - there are so many choices with every part of being a mum. I'm sure I won't care with my second! LOL.

Tescos do the tommee tippee ones with the flip-up spout with 3 holes in. They're good cos you can still chuck a full beaker in your bag.

The new Heinz one (they're called Vital Baby I think) is great. Softish handles and spout. Spout has 3 holes in. Screw-on lid so its easy to get on and off, but doesn't fly off when your baby throws it. Oz/ml marks up the side if you use it for milk. See-through so you can see what's left (and good for baby entertainment too). And has a one-piece valve inside that you can pull out if you don't want it. But is quite easy to drink out of if you do use it.

Millie1 · 08/01/2006 18:55

Try Heinz Vital Baby ... just what you want. I need to replace DS2's water cup cos the handle has broken and he's sooo upset so will get the same again.

NotQuiteCockney · 08/01/2006 19:06

I've found them at Woolies. Dead cheap, too.

WestCountryLass · 08/01/2006 19:13

Boots have free flowing cups, Tommy Tippee do one with a flip up spout which you cang et all over the place.

Frizbetheexpansionset · 08/01/2006 19:39

PiccadillyCircus · 08/01/2006 19:41

popsycalindisguise · 08/01/2006 19:49
