i'm hoping that someone out there can give me some helpful advice!i am thinking about buying a 3 wheeler pushchair for my dd.at the moment i've got a mamas and papas pliko, which isnt that great for long walks with our pooch!and dd seems to get uncomfy as she always starts crying to get out.anyway,i've been looking at the jane slalom 3 wheeler and also the i'coo platon.i just cant decide which to get.i like the fact that the i'coo seat can face towards you (my dd has cystic fibrosis and is often quite poorly,so being the over protective mum that i am,that would be quite good!).has anyone else out there got either a jane pushchair or i'coo that they can tell me which is teh better pushchair?hope someone can help!!!

Starlover has an i'coo .... she'll tell you all about it hopefully.... (think she has a 4 wheeler platon but presumably same principles).

busybusybee · 08/01/2006 22:28

Hi stephanie - Forgive me for being thick but does cystic fibrosis mean she will need a pushchair until she is older and bigger than most children would

If so you might want to consider the type that we have - our ds is big for his age and this one was excellent - tackles all surfaces, bounces along

I will try and do a link for you now

starlover · 08/01/2006 22:29

the i'coo is FANTASTIC!

i do have the 4 wheeler version, but met someone the other day with the 3 wheeler, and also tried one out in mothercare.

it is one of the best-made pushchairs i've seen.. the attention to detail is amazing (down to little velcro tabs for folding the footmuff down etc etc!)

it's LOVELY to push, great suspension, wide seat, very comfortable (or it looks comfy anyway), easy to fold up. I also like the fact that you can have the seat facing you. the seat swaps really easily too.

the only downsides to it are:
it's pretty darn heavy
it's pretty big (you'll need a big boot)
the raincover doesn't fit as well when you have it rearfacing as when it is forwardfacing (but still works ok) and it is also pretty bulky to store

aside from that it is really fab... i wouldn't swap it for anything!

starlover · 08/01/2006 22:30

also the handle height can be adjusted by pushing a button in the middle of the handle and just pulling it up or down.... very handy for squeezing into lifts etc!

busybusybee · 08/01/2006 22:33

here

much cheaper than we paid
I think the i,coo is manufactured by the same people - could be wrong - German i think - again could be wrong

starlover · 08/01/2006 22:36

what make is that one busybusybee?

i'coo i know is made by hauck, which is german

busybusybee · 08/01/2006 22:38

I have a four wheeler just as in my link
To compare with the i coo having read starlovers description

my asahi does not have a reversible seat - there is a version that does however

It is very heavy and huge - no good on buses, takes up most of a car boot, and the handle height is high. The raincover is ridiculous, ugly expensive and doesnt fold up - avoid!

It is fantastic for walking with though - and maybe just what you need if your dd will need a pushchair for longer cos of her condition. -due to the big seat and the fact that it is tested to carry much heavier weights than a standard pushchair - dont know how the i coo compares though

HTH

busybusybee · 08/01/2006 22:39

Yes thats it Hauck!

starlover · 08/01/2006 22:40

oooh bbb i looked at the asahi before we got the i'coo! didn't recognise it from your link

busybusybee · 08/01/2006 22:40

how much is an Icoo - Im sure we paid over £200 for our Asahi - but that was over 2 years ago - now its a lot cheaper

tessasmum · 08/01/2006 22:43

Ok, a word in favour of the Jane pushchair!
Have had it for 3 years, from when DD was born, and use it all the time - now back to a pram as DS is 9 weeks old.
Have been over all sorts of terrain and had no problems - having a swivel front wheel that can be made static helps.
Nice high adjustable handle for those of us over the average height - I'm 5'10" and most others were just too low.
Looks like its built to last and hasn't complained about our treatment of it yet!

Can't recomend it highly enough.

starlover · 08/01/2006 22:47

we paid £289 for our i'coo... and it's now on preciouslittleone.co.uk for £189!!!!

very annoyed! only got in last august

mummylicious · 08/01/2006 23:10

hi tessamum
which jane pushcahir do you have? Is it the carrera or the 3 wheeler? I've read the brochure about 100 times and can't decide what to go for at all. I also like the look of bebe confort trophy or loola but don't see many about so don't know if it's that popular. i am going to surf now for this i'coo one - never even heard of it!

starlover · 08/01/2006 23:12

mummylicious this is the i'coo i have i'coo platon 4

mummylicious · 08/01/2006 23:21

thanks starlover It looks great and a lot cheaper than I thought (cheaper than jane also). Is it easy to fold up and down for the car?

starlover · 08/01/2006 23:23

very easy to fold. but it is heavy to lift in and out of the car, and you'll need something with a pretty big boot!

well, i say that... it fits ncely into our renault scenic....
we haven't tried it in the ford focus but i think it MIGHT squidge in, just about! lol

mummylicious · 08/01/2006 23:36

why is there so much choice out there? my brain is mush. I think it must be a pregnancy symptom because I am totally incapable of making a decision about anything and now they are all starting to look the same. But thanks for the advice!

starlover · 08/01/2006 23:39

oh i know! i was the same! faaaaaaaaaaar too much choice

stephanie21 · 09/01/2006 22:18

hi everyone!thanks for all the advice!dd will prob need a pushchair for longer as she gets out of breath when running and walking due to her also having asthma.she is really small for her age (she's 17 months, but is size of 9-12 month old)so think will get away with having her in pushchair for longer.i have ordered an i'coo platon today!cant wait until it comes!mummylicious,i had a loola, and found it far too heavy for just a buggy.it actually hurt my back the first time i went out with it and i ended up on bedrest and on pethadine for a week!i sold mine on ebay and couldnt believe how many of them were being sold saying used once.havent seen any i'coos on there apart from brand new ones from shops.
