Night nappies??

Hi
Does anyone know of someone who makes a night nappy? If I change my ds he wakes up so much he can't sleep for an hour, but now he rolls about he ends up with a wet patch on his tummy if I leave him all night.
My mum said to use night nappies, but I can't find them anywhere. Are they a figment of her imagination???

Ok I'm on limited sleep and probably way out but what comes to mind would be cloth nappies with extra absorbing material for night time if you can't find a disposable night nappy.

HTH

Ive never heard of night nappies will watch this thread as I'd like to also solve this prob with dd2

Seona1973 · 07/01/2006 13:45

I use pampers easy up pants on my dd at night as she got wet using baby dry and active fit - fingers crossed they seem to be doing ok. (pampers baby dry are marketed as being able to keep your lo dry for up to 12 hours (ie night time) so that may be what your mum is talking about)

NannyL · 07/01/2006 16:12

about 5or more years ago you could always get 'night nappies' along side normal nappies. always were in boots / superdrug tho cant quite rememeber if supermarkets did them!

then the stopped! people who i baby sat for regularly always used them and were so cross when they stopped. my personal fav night time disposable would be pampers baby dry, BUT they def dont suit all babies! one of my charges could not wear a huggoes for 2 hpours without a leak, but i know others who swear by huggies!

(my real favs tho are cloth napiies that arnt full of manky chemicals!)

starlover · 07/01/2006 16:14

use cloth! much better. ds is 11 months now and we have NEVER had a leaky nappy during the night. he sometimes sleeps for 13 hours

fruitful · 07/01/2006 16:33

Hmm... hijack here - we use disposables (tescos own, not the value ones) at night cos ds was wearing a boosted totsbots with a motherease wrap and waking up soaked - babygro, grobag, sheet, the lot. What am I doing wrong?

Must admit we haven't tried cloth again since he stopped having night feeds, but still.

starlover · 07/01/2006 16:54

hello fruitful!

wow! your ds must be producing tons! lol

we use a fuzzi bunz with 2 inserts, or a bumble... just as is. no boosters.

but i think that if you are using boosters you make the nappy too thick for the wrap iyswim? if the wrap is a bit tight round the crotch, and especially more if you have vests etc on which make it a bit tight then i think the compression can cause the wee to just run off..

does that make sense?

stripey · 07/01/2006 21:23

ds2 drinks a lot of water during the night (2-3 bottles) and the only disposables that have worked for us are Tescos - purple pack. I found them so good I stopped using Huggies during the day.

hunkermunker · 07/01/2006 21:25

Agree re Tescos own, they're much better than Huggies (ick) or Pampers (too THIN!) - and making sure willies point downwards!

Mercy · 07/01/2006 21:38

NannyL is right re night nappies - they no longer exist and neither do boy or girl nappies, it's all unisex stuff these days.

Parents who use cloth nappies - how good are booster pads - is that what they are called even?

I'm with you stairs, dd nevesr had this problem!

tinytotmummy · 07/01/2006 22:25

You could try a minki huggle cloth nappy. V effective overnight, esp for my dd, who is a heavy wetter. You can get them XL, but will need a generous wrap to cover it. babykind.co.uk (sorry can't do links!) have the huggle nappy and an xxl wrap should you need it

fireflyfairy2 · 07/01/2006 22:28

Try a Motherease nappy with a airflow wrap. You may need to boost (I know I do!) DS (one) has been put down with a nappy, a snap in booster, another booster thing and a liner... as I have had a leaky nappy the past 2 nights and do not want to take any chances tonight!!!

louismummy · 07/01/2006 22:44

huggies supreme work for us, but i'd cut down on the liquid given at night too hth

stairs · 08/01/2006 19:55

Thanks for all of your suggestions..will work through them to see which works for ds!!! Good to know that mum was right (there were such things as night nappies), but that I am too (you can't get them now)

Starlover - yes, that does make sense. Think I'll wait a few nights till we've had a bit more sleep - he has slept through for 3 nights in a row now and I don't want to risk changing anything! But then I'll experiment with the cloth ones at night again. Would be nice to stop buying nappies.

Hmmmmm, I could afford another Bamboozle...
