Ford S-Max......question for any owners out there

Hi, this is my first post, although I have been lurking a while. Tried to ask this question already and not sure what happened when I actually pressed to post! I'm putting it down to being heavily pregnant!! Well, it makes me feel better to say that's the reason!

Anyway....

Collected my used S-Max yesterday and whilst things seem ok I'm a little woried about the chiming that happens when I switch it on.
I have a 2007 plate 2.0 TDCi LX model S-Max and I'm aware there's a few electrics/battery faults on the older versions so I'm stressing about it a bit (something I'd rather not be doing 2 days away from my due date!!)

The chiming is a fast, high-ish pitched chime that lasts about 10...chimes (was trying not to say chime too many times in that sentence!). It happens shortly after starting the engine or when I just have the ignition switced on. It even did it this morning when I'd got as far as switching the ignition on then switching it off as I'd forgotten something and had to go back in the house so had to take the key out. So it seems to be from a set period of time that it chimes.

There's no warning lights on, no messages coming up, and theres nothing in the manual about it.

So, my question is......do all S-Max's make this noise when you start the car??? Or am I being a bit too wishful in my thinking?

I will be ringing the dealer about it but would rather get some more info from actual owners in case they just try and fob me off.

Thanks in advance for any advice

Try checking that there is perhaps an indicator stick / or the window wiperstick on or the dimmer lights knob is on. I have a habit of not putting the indicator stick back down into position and it warns you. Drove me mad for ages as I couldn't figure out what it was dinging about! Great car though, I have a six year old diesel one and i'm very happy with it. I haven't had any electrical issues apart from the rear brake light bulbs need replacing a lot, doesn't cost much in the scheme of things though, could be worse.

Thanks for the reply...I will go and double check all those things but pretty sure everything is in the position it should be in!!

Nice to hear you've had relatively trouble free motoring with it all though!

The C-Max series and the Focus Electric are part of Ford's quest to become a serious participant in the green segment of cars. Ford is planning to knock the Leaf and the Prius off their pedestals. These vehicles might be extremely successful. See: www.cardealexpert.com/news-information/auto-news/focus-electric-c-max/.

Parking sensors?
Seat belt warning?
I think mine does this occasionally - it could be what Finn77 said about the indicator.

Finally worked it out after leaving the radio on one day. When I got back in the car and started it up, the radio came straight on, then the beeping did its usual thing. Only this time I got to see 'phone' come up on the radio display in time with the beeping. Think the previous owner had parrot in the car (there's a manual for it that has been left with all the service history etc) and it's still looking for a phone to connect with.

Which has relieved me greatly! It may be annoying but at least I'm not left wondering what on earth the beeping is trying to warn me of!

Thanks for the help :)
