The book the mw gives out at the booking in appointment tells all iirc, they all are much of a muchness tbh.

what is it you didn't like about that book gs? i started off with miriam stoppards' 'pregnancy' and got p**d off with the chapters on 'how to do your make up whilst you're pregnant and look good' & 'how to stop yourself putting weight on etc'
so a friend gave me the rough guide, which was a breath of fresh air and made me feel like i could eat 5 mars bars if i wanted (not that i did, but i just wanted to feel like i wasn't being judged)
so, what are you looking for?

I think they're all a bit ?hmmmmmm? but I got on better with 'Pregnancy Week by Week'- Dr Jane MacDougall's (Collins ) than others incl. the mw's book...

Suspect any guide plus MN and google is sufficient! Just remember to ask the questions (you don't, as I thought after ds1, know it all!)

thanks for the response - i found rough guide - light but not overly informative which is what you are looking for in your first pregnancy. i wanted to buy a book for my friend who is in early pregnancy that is full of useful/ detailed info week by week. pregnancy week by week sounds good. i don't even remember getting such a book from the midwife! oops
thanks again

Expecting by Daphne Metland. Antenatal classes in a book. She's an antetatal teacher of many years experience and also runs babycentre.co.uk

All researched information. Contains week-by-week and month by month information - practical, medical, etc. I got a complimentary copy for review which I lent to my sister who had coincidentally fallen pregnant with her first child at the same time and she said it was the only book she needed.
