Washing Clarks First Shoes

Ds has just wee'd all over his shoes. I seem to remember the cruising shoes you could just bung them in the washing machine - can I still do these with the first shoes or am I asking for trouble?!

Any ideas how to clean them thoroughly otherwise?

I know with the crawling shoes you could wash them gently at about 40 degrees and then stuff them with paper and let them dry... these directions are in dd's shoes. I guess there are no directions in his shoes?!?!? sorry can't be anymore help.. if they are suede or leather perhaps you can check online for some suggestions for cleaning that.

I had leather first shoes from clarks and they came out fine after a wash in the machine. I think i put them in a pillow case as i wasnt sure myself

Ds has lace up nubuck leather first shoes from clarks and the label says wash at 40 degrees, no detergent, reshape with tissue and dry away from heat, some colour loss may occur - hope that helps.

thanks all... I chucked them in on a 30 deg wash (being extra cautious) and they seem to be okay. Did take AGES to dry though (finished them off on a low heat setting with the hairdryer as they hadn't dried overnight!)

The insole seems to have lost its sticky a bit though so it looks like I'll have to reglue that later Still, at least they don't reek of wee, that's got to be a bonus

I glad it worked out for you...

Mine came out faded and 'orrible, despite having been told that they were washable. If I had known I would have comprehensively sponged them with a damp cloth

HMC - mine were like that too. Crawling shoes which I was assured I could wash. £16 for very little wear in 4 weeks (apart from one muddy puddle - hence the washing) and they are wrecked. They look like he's been trekking in the desert in them they are so faded!

Was hoping they could be passed on to the bump when necessary but they look awful!
