Dishwasher: Has yours ever made a funny crackly noise?

Ours is only a few weeks old. It's been absolutely fine, but then last night it started to make a loud sort of crackly noise.

The only thing I could see was that it was running low on rinse aid, which I've now topped up.

It made the noise again briefly when I switched it on again, but now seems ok. I wish things would just go wrong if they're going to, then I'd know where I stood! Anyone else had this?

Ours has caught me out a few times by making funny noises -I've thought it was about to blow up or something when actually its just been the water spraying onto something like a particularly big pan or metal bowl/baking sheet. Could it have been something like this??

I don't think so..although I know what you mean about the funny random noises. Dh wondered if a glass or something had broken, but it was all ok.

This definately suddenly made a weird crackly noise(not heard that one before anyway) Oh, please let it be ok. I could always query it with the customer service people I suppose - it's only a month old after all.

It's the thought it might burst into flames that worries me - A washing machine did that to me years ago!

Our dishwasher exploded recently. Blew the fuses downstairs & nasty burning smell when opened door to check it out! It was more than 10yrs though!

We now have nice shiny new one that is very quiet!

We have a very cantankerous dishwasher, which we 'adopted' when we bought the house. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it rumbles and bangs, sometimes it just gets stuck on the cycle and washes for hours until you physically cut the power.

DH refuses to replace it until it dies on it's ar*e. We are also moving (or hoping to) and the house we buy is likely to have a built in dishwasher, so buying a new one may be a total waste of money.
