I really don't like my Baby Bjorn sling....

It causes me back ache and emphasises my rather enormous norks! (The photographs of dd in a the sling with me when she was a few months are horrendous)
So I have been looking at wrap around slings or something much more comfortable for Number 2, who us due next month.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Thank you kind Ladies

My vote is for the Huggababy (and also Wilkinet for the early weeks - no backache but the norks problem is the same ) I have never had back ache with a huggababy and no emphasis of norks - it does however show my jelly belly in an unflattering light if seen sideways on!

I use a NOJO sling it is from the states, they are available on eBay worldwide.

moby!!!

Bagpuss30 · 06/01/2006 13:36

I had same prob with baby bjorn. I have a Wilkinet now.

Enid · 06/01/2006 13:36

I had a baby bjorn with dd1 and hated it - they flop around too much and it hurt my back

I used a wilkinet with dd2 and it was brilliant - I was put off by the straps but they are dead easy. I will deffo use it again with new baby.

MrsDoolittle · 06/01/2006 17:05

The straps put me off too. I thought a wrap might be easiest

Mei Tai.

Try Kozy or Cwtshi .

MrsDoolittle · 06/01/2006 18:14

Or this one?

MrsDoolittle · 06/01/2006 18:15

Why do you say that Cod?

Another vote for the Wilkinet - the straps are offputting at first but practice with a teddy and you will soon get the hang of it. Newborns especially feel very safe and secure up above your waist (rather than dangling between your legs) the only sling I feel safe to letgo of the baby.

snowleopard · 06/01/2006 18:19

I like my BB actually, but used a Huggababy from birth to 3 months and it was great. (After that he would wriggle too much, he wanted a forward view.)

misdee · 06/01/2006 18:23

{link\www.thecarryingkind.com/products/shw-detail.asp?pid=155\these are good ones for a quick carry}

but love my moby (at the bottom) its so easy to use once you've learnt how to tie it, and dd3 is so comfty in it.

misdee · 06/01/2006 18:25

try again, maya ring sling

Wraps like the EllaRoo are fantastic, and totally versatile, but do be prepared for the learning curve involved.
Once I got the hang of it, my wraps became the comfiest slings in my stash, even beating the kozy which I never thought would happen! lol.

marthamoo · 06/01/2006 18:55

Sell it on ebay, Mrs D - I got about £15 for mine.

Davros · 06/01/2006 19:15

I couldn't manage Wilkinet or Baby Bjorn. I think it was me, not the slings! I just felt uncomfortable and unnatural using them. I much preferred a lovely pram/pushchair with plenty of room for shopping and no screeching face pressed up to mine!

MrsDoolittle · 07/01/2006 14:12

That moby does look nice misdee!
I took the E3 out today, first time!! Dd loved it

The Hug a Bub is absolutely fantastic, as a doula I always use one (I have my own which I bring to "work" and use when the mum sleeps and I am cooking for her or whatever, if baby is ubsettled it's VERY handy!) and all my clients end up buying one ! It's very easy to carry a baby in it for hours (if that's what you want/need). I have had it for a long time, wash it a lot, it's perfect!
The Carryingkind sell it. Others too.

I had a Baby Bjorn and think they are utter crap, and sell so well

MrsDoolittle · 07/01/2006 14:30

I think the hugabub is very similar to the moby, isn't it?

OP posts:
MrsDoolittle · 07/01/2006 14:33

I think I'll do that marthamoo
