anyone got a Stokke Sleepi cot??

I really like the look of the Stokke Sleepi cot cos it starts off very small and you kind of expand it as baba gets bigger.

Trouble is they are not that cheap and don't want to bother if they're not worth the extra.

So has anyone got one?

TIA

I have one. It is beautiful and will definitely last. But it is just a cot.

LadySherlockofLGJ · 05/01/2006 14:40

I have one and it is wonderful, DS loves it.

allyco · 05/01/2006 15:00

AND where can you get all the bumpers and stuff, is it just Stokke that do them??

i have got 1, very nice cot, really sturdy, but a nightmare to assemble, especially going from the small baby cot to the big 1 (or mayb my dp is just crap at putting it together} i think mothercare do all the bumpers and sheets and i think they do a sleeping bag thingy too, very expensive though. its also quite annoying as there is no drop down side.

lanismum · 05/01/2006 16:29

i meant that mothercare sell the stokke range of bedding, its not mothercares own brand, not sure if you can get non stokke versions though............

allyco · 05/01/2006 16:35

oh god is it hard to assemble my DH is crap at things like that (as am I).

It just looks so sweet though. When I saw it first it was in "small" mode and I could just imagine the baby in it........... but then again none of my other kids ever seemed to spend much time in their cots because they were always in bed with us .

Will it last long enough until baba goes into a proper bed though?

we don't have any of the bedding (though it is lovely), just normal stuff etc. daisy and tom sell it though.

i've assembled and reassembled it several times (couldn't decide which room would be ds's) with no problems - lanismum, i think its your dp!

lanismum · 05/01/2006 16:40

hahaha yep i think so too, though i wont even attempt it, but i think it will def last till the baby is ready for its bed, my dd didnt last long in the teeny baby size though, only about 4 months.

AllBuggiedOut · 05/01/2006 23:59

I have one and love it. DS2 (4 months) is sleeping soundly in it now...

I loved the fact that as the tiny cot it's small enough to wheel around both from room to room (we're on one level in a flat so could bring it into the lounge) and in the bedroom - next to our bed for first few weeks, now on the other side of the room.

DS1 (now 2+4mths) had it as the mini cot, then the large cot. Never found it a problem that the side didn't drop although was also worried about that defore I bought it. But so many people I know with cots with drop sides don't use them, I figured it would be OK. It serves as a small "cot bed" in that you can take out one of the straight side panels, and it was still plenty big enough for my huge DS1 (98th centile this boy...) at nearly 2. And there's an extension pack to convert it into a full size junior bed if you want too.

And I don't think it's hard to assemble, just lots of bolts!

I am a complete addict. As you say, it's so cute!

And although the mattress is oval, John Lewis regular fitted sheets/duvets etc fit it just fine. Of course, any old sleeping bag will do too. (Notice that TK Maxx seem to have lots of grobags at the moment...) Never had bumpers so can't help there.

meggmoo · 06/01/2006 00:10

I have one and love, love, love it. Despite what I was told regular cot sheets fit it (honestly) I use the cotton stretch ones from Mothercare much cheaper than the Stokke ones. I dodn't get a bumper of sleeping bag or any of that gubbins just the cot. I am wondering whether to save it for the next baby of extend for ds into a junior bed. I think it's more a baby's cot really.

meggmoo · 06/01/2006 00:11

..and also I forgot to say it took me about 20 minutes to assemble it from start to finish.Ggggggr, I love flat pack me!

JenJam · 06/01/2006 00:34

oh wish we got one now
we didn't get any cool stuff for our little boy, we borrowed everything...

Hello, just dragging up old threads here hoping to find the answer to my question.

I've just been given a second hand Stokke cot by my cousin. (Hurrah for free stuff!)

It's currently made up in the "large cot" mode and I can see she's given me a small base and a small matress rolled up so I presume that's for when you use it as the teeny crib bit.

Just out of curiosity; how do you make it into the toddler bed bit? Do you have to buy a large base board - a sort of extension kit? Or is there some magical way that it grows?

Also, she gave me some fitted bottom sheets for it, but does everyone use regular top sheets and blankets?

And can you buy replacement matresses? Can phone around some suppliers I guess. I couldn't see any direct reference to replacements on the website.

I dunno if I should get a new mattress? They say you shouldn't use second hand don't they?

Thanks!

twelveyeargap · 03/03/2007 17:44

bump, anyone?

smittenkitten · 03/03/2007 18:39

you do need an extension kit to turn it from large cot to a bed - i think it's about £120, but expect you get a larger mattress with that so that might solve your mattress question?

I've got it in larger cot mode at the moment and am using Stokke sheets and a sleeping bag.

twelveyeargap · 04/03/2007 19:48

Great, thanks.

amidaiwish · 04/03/2007 20:28

sorry haven't read whole thread - one thing to beware is the bedding is very expensive and i don't think "ordinary" fitted sheets fit...

but i could be wrong!

twelveyeargap · 04/03/2007 21:16

Thanks, we were given a few fitted sheets with the cot, so that's helpful.

Teaandcake · 09/03/2007 11:14

Twelveyeargap, you can get new mattresses (in all 3 sizes) from a Stokke stockist but they do need to be ordered in for you. Luckily, Stokke are usually v quick to supply, so not too bad.

It grows into a junior bed with an extra extension kit, basically an extra base board and longer mattress but you don't need any of that for a while yet!

The bottom sheets are the best fit but all the rest of the bed linen really does not matter, just use whatever you like. Admittedly, the bumper is a well thought out design and fits v securely but I'm really not a believer in bumpers anyway so you really could do without.

Hope this helps.

twelveyeargap · 09/03/2007 14:40

You're a mine of info on the products Teaandcake!

princessmel · 09/03/2007 14:40

Use a suitcase

twelveyeargap · 09/03/2007 14:43

I would have been had the Stokke cot not been donated. Possibly a drawer...

Teaandcake · 09/03/2007 19:42

Well, I sell nursery goods for a living. Or at least I did until I started Mat leave a few weeks ago!

Tyakit · 17/03/2007 11:26

Just noticed this thread about the Sleepi. I have the old model that I bought for my DD (now 4) and will be using it for DC2 due in May. I originally ordered a replacement cot mattress from Stokke (about £79) but due to the model change couldn't get a crib mattress for the first stage. Then I found Baby Mattresses Online and they made me an exact copy of the crib mattress and a perfect replacement for the cot size mattress. Both have coolmax covering and so are much better quality than the Stokke ones and for much less money. Cot size mattress was about £45! Great service and next day delivery - a definate recommendation.
