clarks crawling shoes or daisy roots?

?

i think of 'crawling' shoes as a marketing ply but dd3 is now cruising furniture well, and is attempting to stand as well. she wont keep socks or shoes on atm, and have been reluctant to put them on her. but she will be cruising around at the hospital and the thought of her feet on hospital floors, well its just yuk. (i know how often they are cleaned, say no more).

have done a quick price check on ebay, and with p and p, daisey roots cost about the same as clarks crawling shoes. but her feet are dinky.

what would you do?

(dd1+2 had shoes when they were cruising outside as both were walking in the summer)

i used the soft pop-on shoes from mothercare (or anywhere else for that matter!) for ds..... and i work in clarks and get a third off! lol

the crawlers are bulkier than inch blue/daisy roots. we had a couple of pairs of padders from tesco which were about £2.50 each!

misdee · 05/01/2006 18:18

lol GB, i had a bloke round earlier collecting videos (freecycle), and he said his little boy was 5months old and bigger than dd3 at 10months. mind you the size of the guy (bih hairy biker) i wasnt surprised lol.

starlover i have had soft shoes from mothercare, tesco, sainsburys, boots, woolies etc etc, and all have fallen off her feet.

ill see what i have upstairs but imnot sure anything will be suitable...... I knw Jess's crawlers were a size 3.5 so not much use to you

starlover · 05/01/2006 18:22

i'd go for the inch blue... they're much softer than daisy roots

misdee · 05/01/2006 18:23

thanks JARM but irrc the crawlings/cruisers mpold to the feet more than dairyroots, so if i do decide to go for clarks, then iwill get her feet measured properly.

good range of inch blue here

but look around and see if you can find them from anywhere that you might be able to get a discoiunt code for iyswim?

starlover · 05/01/2006 18:26

tbh, linus still got the daisy roots and inch blue shoes off, though not as quick as anything else... and if she has very skinny feet/ankles then they won't stay on any better than other stuff...
so i suppose in that respect you may be better off with crawlers in that you can tighten them up and get a narrower fit

chicagomum · 05/01/2006 18:31

Having recently been to clarks I've noticed they do 3 kinds of shoes now crawlers, cruisers and 1st walkers, DD (just turned 1 ) is only cruising atm and like your dd misdee constantly removes and sucks his socks. However I have the opposite situation, he measures too big for the cruisers and is into the first walkers (3 sizes up from where they start).

Was so fed up with it whilst shopping I threatened to superglue his socks to his feet (then dd (4 at the weekend) burst into tears pleading with me not to glue *'s socks to his feet as it will hurt to take them off .

chicagomum · 05/01/2006 18:34

Oh btw I have a lovely pair of sheepskin bootees (blue suede on the outside and fleecy inside from asda) that lace up (from asda) and ds has grown out of them if your interested cat me with your address and I'll post them to you (free - they only cost about £3 and ds has never managed to remove them).

LIZS · 05/01/2006 18:39

dd has tiny narrow feet and they stayed on her !

hana · 05/01/2006 18:42

i would go for the daisy roots type ones ( or try robeez.com, gorgeous ones! and free pp, and no I don't work for them!)
even if they are cruising, closest thing to barefoot is best

( ahve you tried tights if she pulls socks off? )

Gingerbear · 05/01/2006 18:47

The navy bobux ones are 11cm long. They would be like flippers on her!
What about baby Gap socks with the sticky plastic bobbles on the base of the foot?

misdee · 05/01/2006 18:59

no gap near me. the best socks i have found were from h&m (?) in uxbridge. but she has outgrown the ones she did have, and i am not going to uxbridge for a while. similar to gap ones with the bobbly grippers on the sole.

i have put her in tights but she slips all over the place [giggle]

Tescos do bootees in pink/blue/cream with bobles (sp) on the base (think they are about £2)

misdee · 05/01/2006 19:03

tried the tesco boottees. am giving up lol.

i have a gorgeous sparkly pink fluffy pair of soft boots that she managed to get off and lose one. i found it out by my car.

jarm went to baby gap for me and posted me socks when i was having the same problem... bloody things never stayed on either! in fact, i would say the gap ones were much baggier and he removed them far more easily than any of his other damn socks

think your only answer is tights witht double sided sticky tape for hospital visits then [grin) . And if you spray the tape with dettol you'll be helping them with their hygeine problem too.

misdee · 05/01/2006 19:10

going to order a pair from inch blue seeing as dd3 has chicken pox atm and wont be going to town for a while.
