Have never used hair straighner because I dont believe they could possibly work on my wild hair. BUT these one sounds convincing. My hair is thick, fine and prone to frzz. How long do you have to use them for.

trace2 · 31/12/2005 14:19

dd has long thick hair and she like the normals ons theres mini normal amd large

northerner · 31/12/2005 14:19

I worship at the alter of GHD. LOVE THEM!!!!!

BTW does anyone know how to curl hair with straightners?

NomDePlume · 31/12/2005 14:21

I only use my cheaper straighteners about once a week and I use a protective serum with them so i'm not too worried about damage to my hair.

trace2 · 31/12/2005 14:24

dd does but she not here to ask and when she does it looks fab

northerner · 31/12/2005 14:30

Would you ask her? I'd love to know but can't figure it out. Have googled but can't find anything.

Thanks!

trace2 · 31/12/2005 14:32

yes yes £77 on HQHAIR on line

trace2 · 31/12/2005 17:02

northerner dd says you just use them like tongs,
she says you can curl in or outwards, she says outwards are better, but dont forget to part your hair in middle or they will be all same way, shes done her freinds and it looks like ringlets its really good.

hope this helps

GHD's are definetly worth every penny. i got mine for £100 but that was last year some time. straightens my wavy hair in 10 mins!! would definetly recommend them...

NannyL · 31/12/2005 18:03

Ive just used mine again NOW they are still as great as they were 2 years ago...

i have the 'fat' ones for thick hair... they were £80ish online inc postage back then!

myrrhthamoo · 31/12/2005 19:55

Dh popped into town this afternoon and bought me some Vidal Sassoon ones in Woolies - reduced to...wait for it...£6.49. I'm sure they're pants I saw him wince the other day though when I mentioned how much the GHD ones that "everyone on Mumsnet" recommends are!

Screwballmuppet · 31/12/2005 20:05

Most people I know say they are worth the money.

I have remington straighteners and they have been excellent....tried a friends ghd and I don't think there was any difference so in my opinnion they aren't worth the money.

blondie82 · 31/12/2005 20:06

looks like i got robbed with mine then, everyones else seems to have got them for cheaper!! saying that, i did get a ghd brolly with mine. part of a set i think!

MerlinsBeard · 31/12/2005 20:11

isn';t it just the ceramic part of ghd's that make ur hair shiny?

My straighteners are vidal sassoon ceramic ones(not the bargain woolies ones lol) and they shine my hair too, AND my hair is not danaged which my hairdresser will testify too

northerner · 01/01/2006 09:37

Thanks Trace. But I'm still confused

Do you wrap the hair around the straightners or make a curn with your finger and clamp the hair in the irons?

trace2 · 01/01/2006 10:19

you wrap them round in or out,she says out are better

anchovies · 01/01/2006 11:10

To curl, pull a thickish chunk through the straighteners to the bottom whilst holding the straighteners at a 90 degree angle to the hair then hang on to the bottom of your hair with the straighteners and wind it round the outside of the straighteners for a little while. It takes a bit of practise! Don't brush it afterwards, it will drop out enough to look normal after a little while!

northerner · 01/01/2006 12:43

Oh I see! Sounds tricky. Will give it a try though.
Thanks
